The Volvo is the car that the RS500 SHOULD have been.

Price is the problem 50k !! if it was a luxury car that got the Cosworth treatment then people would say yes.

Also I thin the car is too small, the Serria Cos was a success as it was a a big enough car, the CS400 is too small. Perhaps Subaru should have done the Cosworth upgrade on one of their larger cars where these is more of a market for spanking quick monsters ?

Cosworth Impreza - £50k
Evo X FQ400 - £50k

And if Ford forged the Focus engine and added a 4wd system i can hazard a guess what price it'd be.

Prodrive offered a smiliar car a few years prior to this when the hatch first came out, estimated price was between 37-40k

clarkson was complaining about turbo lag in the impreza. You wouldn drive it like that youd change down a gear or two - dont think he did the same test in the ford.

The point was at 60mph in 6th gear it should pull, you can do that in 5th at 30mph in a twin scroll car, why not on a larger 2.5ltr engined car?
Basically its badly set up, you should have power there.

To compare my 08 hatch with a enginetuner makeover is hitting over 1.5bar of boost at 60mph in 5th. And with just a smidge over 450bhp would see off that fancy volvo aswell.

The Volvo looked awesome.

The Impreza did fairly well round the TG track IMO. 1.27, just slower than a 911 GT3, not bad for a practical hatch on a damp track.
Although can't really take anything away from the Ford. 1.30 for a FWD car is also very impressive.

At £50K the Impreza is well out of my reach and does seem a little expensive when compared to the Focus that has similar levels of performance but even at £35K the Focus is well out of my reach so does it really matter what they cost??

But if they ever made that fancy volvo then it would come with a 5 year/60k mile warranty no doubt which would cover everything, can you say that about your car?

The Cosworth Sti looks weak and stupid and for 50k you would have to be stupid to buy it. I would certainly have the Focus and money in the bank. Shame Litchfield has never had any exposure on Top Gear though T25 was tested on Fifth gear by Plato.

The spectre of the Litchfield Cars will always haunt Subaru, cheaper, better spec and I don't think a 2.0 lt twin scroll as gone bang yet

Nope your quite right, I can't.
But I imagine the fact they would have to give a warranty like that to such a highly tuned car is one of the reasons its not going into production.

Well, just give it a few months, then all the Hatches will start coming out of the warranty period. Then we can start giving the chaps the car they always wanted. 450 bhp, sharp as a razor and sounding fanbloodytastic.

It will be about demand and for the ammount of units they would make to what they can sell in their main stream models it wouldnt be worth the money, and it would sell but like anything performance, its a cliche market with limits

You're going to have to as the warranty will no longer be paying for the engine failures!
