Impreza Cosworth on Top Gear!
#91
I've been out in the exact car TG tested and it was quick, very quick, it also has some cracking stone chips on the bonnet that are starting to rust My only problem would be the fact it's £50k but doesn't look any different to other hatch Imprezas IMHO. That said if I had the money I'd buy it, just 'cause I could

I think that's who the car is aimed at, I know if I had millions I would like one in my collection.
Is it just me or did that Focus RS look like a 12 year old had painted it with a pot of matt black paint and a brush?

Ive just watch TG, not there best ever TG ever made I have to say, I would go as far as saying its one of there worst.
Clarkson didn't like the impreza but loved the focus, now there is a surprise, he is a ford man after all.
The Impreza is meant to have such huge turbo lag but managed to pretty much keep up with Volvo and where was the ford!!!!!
I do agree for 50k the impreza looks just like any other STI and I know of one other hatch STI that is faster then the cosworth and my mate hasn't spent 50K on it to get it there. The focus looked crap in matt black and with the tinted rear windows looked like a van.
Back to the show, what was all that crap with the Merc, Rolls Royce and the "cough cough" Bentley about. As for Jonathan Ross what a utter waste of time that was.
Come on Top Gear get your act together, that was ****.

I've always thought of Jonathan Ross, alongside Kerry Katona, Katie Price, Cheryl Cole etc as completly talentless wastes of space.
I would have liked to have seen the EVO X 400 thrown into the mix.
As there must be some worry as to lack of sales of the CS400 I wonder what kind of deal you could negotiate

Was nonsense about the Cosworth being sold out. You just have to look through Pistonheads to see that there are loads of brand new ones still in dealers. At the end of the day if i wanted a quick Hatch then my money would be in Iain Litchfield's pockets Would be an interesting test between the two cars I think Subaru/Cosworth would be quite embarresed

So there was 3 seconds time difference in the lap, but they edited the footage shown so they crossed the line at the same time, could be interpreted as a bit of bias I would have thought.

First off.... Top Gear is not a motoring programme, it is an entertainment show foremost! Come on guys.... you can't tell me you haven't realised that.
Personally I think it is one of the best entertainment shows currently, as it provides a laugh and something to do with cars. That is obviously my opinion.... maybe not everyones.
Right so on to the £50k price tag..... not that massive when you considered all the costs that need to be accounted for.... Including a comprehensive warranty! Remember this is not mass produced, so the purchase price will always be inflated.

It's a shame to see Subaru go down the toilet.
Not only is the 50k Cosworth a waste for that money but Subaru also made a massive mistake by bringing out the hatch as most people don't like it.
I loved my blobeye and would have upgraded to the hawkeye had they not ruined it with their chocolate pistons.
I've now moved to the BMW M3, great performance, better looks and better made.
However, I will always miss the 'flat 4 burble'. Nothing beats it.

It did better the cheaper car, but to use your logic to pay more you should be able to faster. How come then the £54k BMW M3 is slower round the track?. Its more money, has more power, but is slower.
In fact, find a car that is cheaper and has gone around quicker.
At least include some logic in your argument. Seems like you actually like the hatch but perhaps can't afford one, so it suits you to pretend to hate them. I hate lots of things, but I don't go on the relevent forums repeating it time and time again. We got the message the first time from you. Don't need to hear it again, and again, and again.....
p.s anyone know why F1 and pslewis are never seen in the same room at the same time?

The Hatch is a great car, in the way that a lot of cars aren't.
Yes, there are a couple of problems, but the result when you sort them out is stunning.
If you dont want one, don't buy one. Like I said, we heard you already..

Don't be ridiculous, I just can't understand all your moaning.

I don't share that opinion.
Let's leave it there!!!

Top Gear is struggling. First a helicopter landing on a Skoda the other week, then the Albanian crap, last night. I'm a huge Top Gear fan but I'm disappointed.

What I dont understand is when they put the scooby and focus on the track the subaru was 3 seconds faster but the video footage showed them both crossing the finish line at the same time, there was no 3 second gap shown there so something is a drift.

Final word here. Back in Scoobynet's heyday of the early 2000s it didn't matter how much money you had. There were people spending thousands on Scoobs and other cars and people who were saving every penny they could to afford to buy a 7/8 year old high mileage car and all were treated equally. Money didn't really come into it as the cars were what mattered.
Reading the above comments and other similar snidy remarks on other threads it seems with the 'uglier' car has come an uglier mnore shallow type of poster.
We are all allowed an opinion, but to start bring financial status into it is really quite desperate.
As for whether I can afford one or not you will never know as unlike some I don't feel the need to make mention of my financial status on here by implication or otherwise.

REDLIN Mag did a Evo X 400 vs CS 400. Pretty even, but the EVO was the track weapon and the Subaru the "everyday" car.
Pretty much what TG said when they did a Evo 8 vs Blob STI test.

If we're talking about "ugly" I think it's fair to say that only a Mother could love the Bugeye. Having said that of course, the STi version is an absolute bargain, and a fabulous base for a seriously fast car. It's a modifiers dream, and we've knocked out a few that would make a Ferrari owners hair stand on end.
The Hatch's day is coming, and I'm really glad Subaru didn't drop the whole range, and kept on producing a car with so much potential.
Just wait till the new RCM "Gobstopper" comes out. You'll all want one.

I have a moderately quick T4 and that drinks fuel more than my scoob, even if driven like an old lady .
It is not the first time Volvo, or at least the touring car firm associated with them have produced a good car, back in the mid 90's TWR who ran the BTCC S40's produced a couple of road going S40R's, that had 300 horses and was apparently a firm favorite with Volvo engineers in Sweden.
However along came Ford who bought Volvo and that project was shelved.
Ford do not own Volvo any more, I think the owners are now Indian firm Geeley.
Back to TG, they always edit the power laps like that if there are two cars up against each other, so you don't know which is quickest until the times are read out.
They even edit the celebrity laps sometimes if you look closely, you see the car in one shot and it is covered in mud and then the next shot will show the car spotlessly clean .

Lol this is funny
Remember your comparing going on what others have said total waste of time if I had money I'd have one deffo
And I'd mod that engine just to see how far it'd go ?
Alot further than the ford which will be at it's limits.
I like the look of the new scoobys too and don't give a toss what others think

Granted the Focus RS is a nice car but it was good to see the Scooby show it 'what for' in the drag race and come a photo finish 2nd to the Volvo.
Good old AWD, sure beats hammering big bhp through the front wheels only, Ford should have made the RS500's 4 wheel drive.

I don't have my Hatch anymore anyway. Growing kids But loved every minute while I had it.
