the ford is only 350 bhp through the front wheels and weight about the same it not going to stand up to the subaru 400 cosy, but that volvo thing was said to be the same power but where its not a production car i image all the saftey stuff that all produtcion cars need to be legal was not there hence it must of weight about 200kg less

i thought the volvo looked pretty cool -- but then I noticed the front wheel arches
they looked like some tacked on bits of architrave from wickes done by a seven year old with a rusty hacksaw
bit naff really

Don't be ridiculous, I just can't understand all your moaning.
The Hatch is a great car, in the way that a lot of cars aren't.
Yes, there are a couple of problems, but the result when you sort them out is stunning.
If you dont want one, don't buy one. Like I said, we heard you already..

Wow, F1-fan has some serious hate/denial issues going on!
It's quite laughable the way he's so right that it's **** and handles bad etc yet has never driven one? Why the anger I wonder? Bit hardcore when it's clearly an opinion come about because the look isn't to his taste.
I watched the footage and the sti looked like it drove amazingly round the track, tramped the rs in a drag race and mixed with supercars on lap times.
As Alan says the RS is wrong wheel drive for me, I know people say they are good (and they clearly are) but it just feels like a new escort rs turbo rather than a new escort cosworth iyswim.
I think clarkson must be getting back handers from ford or something, he's always 'loved' fast fords.
£50k is a lot of money but how much do you think it'd cost to buy a brand new sti and add the bits? As hard as it may seem to believe there are people out there that will want a brand new virgin sti with big power and a warranty.
I didn't like the look of the hatch when it came out but I can get my head round it now (apart from the awful rear lights) and I'd happily own one. I love hatch cars (hence me having an sti wagon)

but if i could afford one i would jump at the chance
i would rather have a subaru cosworth than any other car

I have been trying to figure out whats going on there for ages.
My big sister used to hate Kylie with a passion.
She really couldnt see it.
The hatch STI is an amazing car. I picked up a honda cb160 in mine at the weekend. Took the forks and back wheel off and just slotted it in.
Drove up to Glasgow last night and averaged 34 to the gallon over the 240 miles. 65 to 70 all the way.

It would appear that the Cosworth hatch is well shy of Subaru's claimed 0-60 mph time of 3.7 secs. A mate of mine was invited with his P1, along with two others in their 22B and RB5 to a shoot out with the Cossie at an airfield in a sort of old v new competition. One of the tests was a mile straight drag race which they did three times and on each occasion the P1 and 22B were in front up to around 90 mph when the superior grunt of the hatch took over. One of the drag races is on youtube.

Great buisness Acumen all the same, is'nt that the same style that sent that tuning company , (that featured a highly tuned 4 door classic in a well known jap mag) down the pan, name slips me at the mo. I'm pretty sure you know who i mean

F*k me, listen to yourselves..... just because it's a Subaru doesn't mean I have to like it. You can all be sheep if you want to, but for me it isn't a car I want. I have driven two hatch STIs and both times was unimpressed for what I was expecting out of the car for the money it costs
For all of you saying 'he hasn't drien one' have you driven the Cosworth then? No, didn't think so yet you seem to know all about how wonderful it is
Look I know it goes against your religion of you must like anythnig with a Subaru badge on it and I know I am just a poor man with no hope of ever owning the Holy Grail that is the hatch (LOL), but this is a forum and forums are for posting opinions. I have posted mine and you are all behaving like I have shot your grandmother FFS!
And then YOU say I have issues!!
Oh and a serious word to the engine tuning guy.. it was not me who said anything about the way you posted and actally I didn't and don't have an issue with it - it's just a forum on the net, not life or death.

I think though that the point of this, is that COSWORTH is showing that the Hatch should have been this car all along. But with the state of Subaru at the mo, they really think they can throw a new age with an STI badge on it and it will sell like hot cakes. Well that dream has just not happend. 50K is a hell of a lot of money for the STI, ridiculous infact. Especially when the lichfield is everything that the hatch should have been. 50K is into a lot of top notch depreciation proof used cars. Cosworth have done a job on the Hatch, but at 50k its just not good enough. Lichfield are the leading light in these conversions and a better car. COSWORTH badge sits more comfortable next to RS.

Look, I'm a car enthusiast first and foremost.
This is a performance Subaru forum. What's with the " I hate Subarus " mantra?
Nobody has to buy one, so why go on about it?
My customers know who I am, and how I tell it like I see it. They appreciate my direct approach, which is why my tuning house is stuffed with Subarus. Would you prefer a business owner that agreed with you all the time? or one that told you straight if you were about to do something stupid?
If I was going to upset people every time I open my mouth, I wouldn't have been in business for all this time now would I? It isn't possible to get on with everybody is it?
One day I'll retire, we're all only passing through after all, then somebody else can have a go.

You have lost me also. I have no mantra, especially that dodgy but very slippy version OPEL made. Yes Manta. People on SCNET, take everything , even slightly negative about a Subaru as a personal insult. Its pathetic, your buisness wont die because people dont like the latest STI, as im sure NORRIS wont with the latest EVO. And i like your straight to the point **** you attitude. I still think the lichfield is a better all rounder though, i like my engines to REV. I love scoobys, they are intoxicating. But i doubt if i will have one again, i hate the depreciation they now carry, and i think i'll go back to an E30 M3 Sport it will get about as much use as my P1 did, but still be special.

Still feel the disappointment now.
Yes Jenson answered his critics that season and I admit I have been one in the past. Thought he drove very well at McLaren for much of the season last year. Really thought Hamilton would blow him away, but he didn't.
Terrible news about Kubica this weekend

Same for me at Mansell in Adelaide 1986 but for the inverse reason
Still feel the disappointment now.
