mine was the bearing...which suprised me as the wheel had no play and its not the typical noise u get when ur bearing goes...my focus rs sounded awfull when the bearing went and it made the noise from cold, where as this 15mins of driveing u wud get this creaky ticking noise...

My plan is to get wheels off and
Check tread throughly (i don't think its this but meh)
Check for play in wheel/cv joint etc
Check brake shims?

Anything else i should be looking for?
well just to let u know mate, mine was the bearing even tho the wheel had no play and everything else seemed fine cv joints, rods etc...44quid for the bearing if i was u look at that.mine onley made the noise afther 15 or so mins of driving...then u wud get a ticking noise and it wud sound creaky when driving slow or cornering hope this helps

Interesting. Mine does it as soon as i start moving but not creaky and its no different during cornering.
I'm growing more certain it is to do with my brakes because it changes sound when i brake lightly to a louder ticking/clicking/fluttering which i am assuming is the pad passing over the grooved/dimpled discs.
I had to brake hard at high speed yesterday and the sound has now got louder. I'm thinking maybe there is a slight lip on one of the grooves in the disc that is just touching the pad as it passes when the brakes are off.
If that is the case i guess i can ignore it but it is an irritating noise nonetheless.
