It does sound like the lambda sensor.
This is the correct one for your car and goes in the downpipe. Good quality item that will last for years (think of all the fuel you've already wasted!)

it's like everything else, the lambda sensor need to be changed at certain time or mileage due to wear and tear even though there's nothing apparently wrong with the car. Changed mine recently for the first time , fuel consumption improve by 30 miles / full tank.

It normally runs lean with the maf and not rich, could be a hole in the fuel tank but you need to take the car to a speciallist or dealer, guessing will just do nothing for you except cost you a packet in sensors when a simple diagnostic may well find the issue.
