Anywho I didn't mean in terms of outright power or anything, I out of curiosity just would like to know if it helps with the compressor surge, the response of the turbo etc.

Hope it all goes well, you are in great hands with Duncan

The poor bugger was held up at the last map (I presume, he has kept me fully informed of his movements) and is now stuck in traffic. I expect him any minute!

I thought after the debacle with the bungs flying out and holding him up the best part of Sat afternoon, that it was only fair to pay him there and then and let him come back at a date to suit him. A discount would be lovely though!

Aye, we were out on the job for a bit. Well, the boost holds well up to about 5200 revs then drops off to 1 bar (ish). Duncan estimates it is making 300/300 and that I need the higher spring rate on the actuator to hold boost through the range. When it is holding boost though, it is quick!

Great job done by Duncan over the two sessions, more than happy after the fleeting drive I had when he went! I will be contacting him when I get back from Afghan for a tweak with new spring and I will get hold of another 3 port, just to be sure.

Happy days, Duncan is a nice guy who keeps you well informed and I would recommend him to anyone who wants a map doing safely and expertly.

Well happy, the boost hold problem is there but not for the want of trying. He was tweaking here and there to get it right but it appears there is an issue there with either the actuator spring rate, or he mentioned the three port.

Well, you would think a forge item would be more than man enough for the job. I bought the vf35 with no actuator in any case, and apart from a second hand item, I havent seen them for sale at all. Possibly 3 port as well, so we will see.

3 port is not always necessary, perrin or pro drive 3 port best option .

heard many times the forge actuators are pants to be honest many describing your issues

only what i read over the years and heard from few mappers, seem to remember evo owners have issues too.

standard actuator does the job fine even out the factory.

best advise is see if you can get one and sell your one

I just did a search on lancer register and it does appear they have snags. I will speak to forge and see what they have to say. If it comes to it though, Im not passing it on for someone else to get the same problem with, Ill just throw it in the garage. £60 lesson learnt.

if issues still happen after actuator sorted whether it be stiffer spring or different actuator i see the vf35 been ported the problem may lie within there.

mine pulls now so much more than it did before
i am running a different car now and had the porting done before i put it on running same spec apart from autronics ecu instead of apexi but had to cut short the mapping due to bad clutch slip but even with lower boost than before she s a lot more lively and turbo noise is fantastic having a map tweak and ebosst controller set in the next couple of weeks then its dyno time, cant wait

As said above, it drops to about 1-1.1bar at about 5.5k, Duncan suspected spring rate on actuator (maydew rightly pointed to poor forge actuators, it appears they are out there) or the 3 port. I thought a 3 port was much the same as the next 3 port?
