i agree ,i have a newage and had classics and the 22b is the best most raw impreza ever built in my opinion but there is some dogs out there and they are asking serious money with very dodgy history.

I agree, I would much rather have a 22B ( or any classic really ) over a newage. The later cars just don't do it for me. And it's not because I can't afford a newer car either, just don't like the look of them.
I know hundreds of people on here will disagree with me buts that just my opinion.
I do want to buy a 22B but ideally want a standard English car. Would just park it up under a sheet in my barn. Can't see you ever losing money on a 22B, ( if it's right ).

IMO one of the reasons it's been there so long is because their reputation is starting to catch up with them. Now when buying a 22b you know what you're looking for and do lots of research, if you don't know then you'd expect a person to try to find out why a 13 year old car is £20k+ . There is too much info on the net as to why you shouldn't buy from there even if the car has 1 mile on the clock and looks brand new, you never know what is being hidden beneath the surface. Just my view on them and the other company names linked to them the area!
Oh and I do like the 22b, but for me the P1 is the best looking classic.

I agree with most of whats said that the 22B was the best looking classic. I also think that the classic in its day was far far better looking than any of the new ages, but I just cant help thinking it looks very dated and worn out. If I didnt know what one was I would say someone would have bought it for around £3k. The newages look newer and fresher even if they dont look as good as the classics did when they first came out, so I can fully understand why people remain loyal to the classics.

Well I'm fairly certain the one my friend had cost him £25k and he sold it for £18k and he spent a **** load of money on it whilst he owned it. It did look nice and it was quite a fast car. I think it had a forged rebuild by the previous owner as well because it went pop. Although it did look a bit different I think there's a lot better Impreza to be had for the money.
But if you bought a 22B you'd have a classic on your hands, uber kudos points from those in the know. I would have a 22B for these reasons not outright performance.
Like why people buy other brands. They are better brands but could be beaten by a cheaper car with serious mods

They will generally offer something significant in addition to performance, something in addition for spending the extra money such as refinement, high quality materials, fuel economy etc. Is it worth £17000 for kudos from a very small minority in the know? To me it isnt a classic yet, it may well become one many years from now but at the moment, no.
Im not meaning to diss a very cool car but for £20,000 I just dont get it.

It was, but the problem was that the MY05 STi was the better car and £5k cheaper. It came with DCCD as standard had a wider track and stronger hubs. If you wanted the extra performance you could just get the PPP.

The one in the first link doesnt look right,i think its a snide,i agree that the 22b is the best scooby, and if i had that sort of cash i would by one ,but id be fooked if id by that one,its a mess under the bonnet, how many original red inlet manifolds have you seen with paint flaking off, especially with only 45k on the clocks, the one in the second link looks an absolute peach.

It's a common problem for the red to peel off the inlet manifold. Every STI I've had has suffered this and I've seen countless others. How likely it is at 45000 miles I don't know as I've not had a classic with that amount of miles on. My last STI had 60,000 on the clocks and the paint was peeling on that.
It's not the inlet manifold putting me off that car, it's the dealer who is selling it.
