Shes insured as it was a courtesy car given as their own one was getting repaired. it was latest land rover freelander. The woman was decent as her husband on the phone in their late 40s, not chav, polite etc....Thats the reason i'm still in 2 minds. As the **** can happen to all of us some day and you wouldn't want to be in that situation, would you ? I know alot of us would rip off as much as we can, but i'm not one of them.

As i wanted to do a favour to the lady so she doesn't fok up her NCB. For me it doesn't realy matter i'd do it myself or insurance, as i have people who work on my car for years .... Just because of that, i asked her how shed like to proceed, and she said that it would be better to pay without causing her insurance going up. Just being a nice guy, even if it looks weird, but i'm in 2 minds still, tommorow morning this will end either ways.

But she's already fcuked up her NCD, she's already going through a claims procedure, you said. Unless that's ANOTHER accident which will remain invisible to the insurers. Do you really want a liability like her driving around? Do us all a favour and go through your insurance.

I thought that she foked up her other car , but it had a fault so was given a courtesy car to drive till its fixed. As i said i will do it tommorow morning if he doesn't agree to my circumstances.

Thats a good point, shes crashed another car whilst the first is being repaired, she needs to give up driving before someone gets hurt, and im pretty sure her insurance wont go up as much as 1.4k youre mate qouted you!

Do you know her car was faulty or are you taking her word as you did for the repair costs to your car.

I apologise if this sounds rude to yourself but to me (and this is my opinion as a stranger on an internet forum) there is something fishy with this whole situation on both sides

It's like banging your head against a brick wall. Makes you wonder whether the OP has actually got an insurer himself.

Theres nothing fishy on here at least from my side thats for sure, and you can say your opinion as forums are for that. Ive posted on here and got some advice as i had no experience in the kinda situations. I don't believe them 100% but the everything they said to me sounds ok . Unless you think that everyone wants to fok you up, i don't . I may sound fool but i believe there are still good people around. We'll see that tommorow, at the end of the day she hit me , not me . I got all to prove that.

Hold on, it's not me who's believing some dumb bint's story about being in a courtesy car because hers has a "fault", and not wanting to go through insurance (which, face it, is what we all pay the blasted premiums for)! Did she have big **** and flutter her eyelids at you? I honestly don't get why you aren't getting your car repaired the proper way. ******* madness, I tell thee.

Honesltly mate get the insurance involved, i was hit years ago by a young lass, her dad said she would never get insured again if i claimed her, i was lucky and did pay in the end but it dragged on and on.
Not worth it as yeh thats what we pay insurance for you will also get a courtesy car to run about in untill its all sorted out, could end up messy if you dont get the insurance companys involved.

My mates girlfriend is going through this senario- 6 months now and they are denying resposibility. It all started off nice and they were in their late 40's too, as time goes on people get more reluctant to pay !! In a perfect world you are doing the right thing, and who knows, they might pay up and the money will be in your bank by next week. Personally I would have phoned your insurance company as soon as you got home, saves you chasing the money.

You need to go through insurance mate.
The only time I would consider not going if it was very light damage, otherwise its not worth the risk & hassle.

Perhaps he's worried that the insurance will write his car off?

What will you do of tomorrow morning you get a letter from her insurance company's solicitors claiming you reversed in to her? Your insurance company will want to know why you didn't inform them of the accident and may well leave you to sort it out on your own.

It is a huge mistake not to notify your insurance company as soon as possible after an accident. If you want to sort it out yourself you can fill in a claim form and write "for information purposes only" at the top. That way if it gets messy later your insurance company will still help you.

At the last bodyshop i used to work in i did a fair bit of the estimating and i recon 80% of the people that came in who had had thier car hit said the other person is going to pay for it, that always used to make me laugh as you knew full well that when they got out thier cars when they had been hit up the **** they would see a small crease and scratch on the bumper, but with all modern cars the bumpers are just a hollow shell now and normaly pop back out and its not until you look under neath or open the boot you see the full exstent(sp) of the damage and they would get the shock of thier life when you told them it would be about 1k to repair

Its hard when people give you the sob story, you try and do whats best for them and even put yourself out, but in todays reality they just want to screw you over, sad world

Hope you get it sorted and a nice repair on your car

So you've reported it to the insurance now?

Surely, if it were a courtesy car, the garage it belonged to would want to know why it was damaged?
