Surely Tony, you can't be 'that' stupid?
How about this:
10 drivers, 5 men and 5 women.
Out of the 10 people, 2 men crash and 1 woman.
From this infomation (and it is the only infomation you have), you can state that the male/female crash ration is 2:1. Yes? Understand this?
Good.
Now tell me how, as an insurance expert, you would calculate the premium, with only the above infomation available.
Please don't start spouting this prejudice rubbish. It is calculated risk.
And as others have said, prices going up for women is bad for men too, if you understood the above. If not, don't worry as I can't bothered to try and explain something that F1fan has explained to you about 20 times.

... been young and male means i am a huge risk.
Now here is the problem, while many males who are young are a high risk agreed, I am NOT, this is proved by 10 years of claim free driving and NEVER having an accident. But im still looked at as high risk, ... Touch wood over 10 years ive never had a serious breakdown so obviously my logic works, Also my cars are always garagedand do less than 3-4k a year. Now im struggling to see why i should be put in a stereo typical catagory with idiots who have no regard for safe driving who have had a number of accidents etc.
... there are also good male ones and neither should be hit with high premiums till they do sumthing to warrant them.

I will end up with only customers who pay a low premium, and go out of business.
The whole point of insurance is to cover a collective risk. The ultimate fair system (for drivers, not victims) would be where no-one had insurance and paid up only when a claim was made against them. Responsible drivers would take out insurance against having to pay for such a claim, and the whole merry-go-round starts again

If I set up an insurance company that rewards you with a lower premium because you tell me that in the future you will not have any accidents (note future tense), the rest of your age group will have to pay more. Therefore they will go to a different company where more averaging takes place.
I will end up with only customers who pay a low premium, and go out of business.

what you say is 100% correct, but explain to me why they try to get a silly amount of money from me for my premium when ive never had an accident or claim in 10 years of driving, my car does only 3k a year and is maintained regardless. Is in a locked alarmed garage guarded by a dog behind a padlocked gate blocked in by 3 other cars and a van (oh and never gets left anywhere at all as i have other cars to use when i need to leave it anywhere) MY past proves I am NOT high risk as does my circumstances but they still look at IMPREZA and it automatically commands a premium. the other things they dont even bother considering. They still give me the silly quotes that they give people who have had accidents and theft claims
Suppose if i had a normal car i wouldnt be paying very much at all but thats the joys of Subaru's

I also clearly know that a claim as you say may wipe out more than i have paid in the last 10 years.Obviously depending on what damage i do to other cars and people etc.
Now what i would like you to explain is why its ok to charge me double on an impreza than say if i drive a mondeo.
The performance of the car I here you say. Doesnt wash with me really, If i can drive 200bhp+ cars from the age of 18 to my now age of 27 without putting one round a tree or having a head on collision in fact never having a accident at all. Then i guess ive proved i am experienced with this power and am capable of handling the car. 10 years is a long time and is long enough to evaluate the driving over if we are realistic.
Next Point yes i can drive home today and have an accident, i agree. But its more than likely a non fault accident as i am a statistically proven good driver.
Next point i can cause exactly the same amount of damage and costs to an insurance company through payout to 3rd parties in a modeo as i can my subaru. So whats the difference.

Obviously you see me as not very bright, I clearly know what ive paid in insurance over the last ten years totalling around 20k.

It'll always be higher as there is an increased chance of theft, but i pay £550 for my modified MY03 STI worth £8k(ish) and £420 for a 1.4 Corsa worth £500.

Most companies on there don't want to insure 'high risk' cars (ie theft) so price themsleves out the market.
Ironically they want the Vectra/Mondeo/Astra etc market... which are the ones that cost the insurers most money (they are the ones that have the little bumps, with low repair costs but high personaly injury claims).
Several insurers i deal with are paying £1.60 in claims for every £1.00 they take from comparison websites.

That's the joy of comparison websites i'm afraid.

LOL thats the funny thing 96% of impreza drivers treat them better than their other half and are unlikley to claim etc. I can certainly belivee they pay out more than they take from comparison websites, which leads us to thats how they make up the difference by raping impreza drivers lol
If you compare Impreza prices to normal cars using a specialist company you might be suprised.
