What utter codswallop. What qualifies you to come out with a ludicrous statement like that?!

Absolutely not, and it's quite obvious you completely misconstrued my previous post. I was in fact pointing out that there's a very big difference between hoping your nearest and dearest will aspire to (and lead) a slightly more civilized lifestyle than drinking themselves senseless every Friday (followed by fighting and puking in the street etc), and imposing a social order on them which takes away their choice to do so.

Sure and your solution is to erect high walls of state power to 'defend' against that?

If people didn't want many aspects of 'western culture' then why the need to use the law to stop it?!

State power has no morality it is just based on brute force ultimately.

His reply was in context to F1's post about other countries not wanting to choose western culture.

It implies state agency to protect or renew local/national cultures.

It's the romantic/cultural aspect of fascism, especially when you start making rhetoric about 'cultural decay'.

Libertarians leave culture to the individual.

Well ok, but that's not what I got from Mark's post.

His post was frothing at the mouth about scantily clad women.

It's not a libertarian stance, and it certainly has misogynistic overtones.

Dont see what the fuss is about. F1 has nothing to do with the ruling powers as such. Naturally enough he is concerned about losing a race as I am too and is hoping that the situation will settle down and allow the race to go ahead.
