So sorry to hear that mate.
My sti 3 engine went at 70k, just 80 miles after I bought the damn thing! Was so angry as I couldn't afford to rebuild it, well I could, but I had to eat into my savings.
That was my last scooby.
I was very tempted to buy one recently and even though I could afford to buy, run and insure one, if the engine went pop, I think I would probably have break it. Spending £4k on an engine build when the car would have been worth £3k was just nuts in my eyes.
Ended up with a boring focus zetec which is actually a bloody good car to drive.
Like you, we have a bubba on the way, so seriously consider your options before throwing £4k at an engine rebuild. Babies are more important than motors mate.
