Expensive you seem to have the knack of finding the overpriced ones, i bet they knock 2k off straight away if you show an interest, im sure there are cheaper ones out there as its a buyers market at the moment i think you want to be looking to get that for 11k max

very tidy motor but if you can find a private seller you'll get a cheaper one.
By all means go and take a look and see how low they will go.
Don't forget its bloody hard to sell a scooby these days so like he-man, you have the power!

I know this is completely subjective but what sort of mileage should you expect to get from a new set of tires on the standard blob-eyes? 15k before replacement?

So your prepaired to pay 3k over the odds because it's local, i wish i had that kind of money.
I know the feeling when you want somthing sooooooooo bad and the money is burning a hole in your pocket, but i can assure you once you have made the purchase the feeling of being mugged soon takes over, and you may even come to dislike the car because every time you get in it you remember and its sods law the week after you buy 3 better cheaper ones come up.
just hold your horses the right one at the right money will come up. you can buy a lot of scooby snacks for 3k and think how much driver training, track days and fuel you will get for that money..

as you say it is subjective, 15k is probably close to the norm, some will get 20 others 12k depends on driving style and tyre compound.
But 3k will buy 6 sets of 4 with change for pads and fuel

At the risk of sounding like your dad, when you do find the right car you will want to change things after a while as a well set up scooby is really hard to beat for sheer driving pleasure, things like lazer alignment,or a map tweek/bigger turbo for that little bit more power/torque and unless you have bottomless pockets its expensive a 14k car can soon become a 20k car with little effort and no hope of getting it back.
so what im trying to say is take it easy, act in haste repent at leisure as my gran used to say

Does anyone have any experience with Tiley of Bristol? Or any good suggestions for local specialists near/in/around Bristol?

Quick heads up. theres a 57 plate 2.5 with 10k on the clock going for 12k on autotrader private sale so should be able to knock at least 500 of that
