But when the breakers ads rule the pages and no room for other ads then it becomes ennoying, especially the likes of most of us want to sell an exhaust etc and it dissapears into page 3 within 1 hour. you have to bump it up 3 or 4 times a day otherwise it will never be seen
+1

Its a sad and sorry state of affairs where the profit driven sales are taking precedence over real enthusiasts just wanting to get rid of the odd single part.

Fighting to stay on page one when a user bumps ten plus threads everyday makes it very anti-community and if anything, just downright inconsiderate to others. When there is only 30 threads shown per page, page one only has space for a maximum of thirty users, assuming each user has a single thread. So I agree that a few users hogging the majority of page one is just simply not fair.

As Lisa has said, we are going to do something about it. This has always been a problem, but its now untenable.

What annoys me foremost is currently the forsale 'General' section should NOT be for car parts. When there is a section called 'car parts' it doesn't take a genius to work out where car parts threads should go. Yes mods could move them, but constantly trying to move the sheer volume of parts threads in the wrong place is like trying to hold back the tide.

Hopefully this will stop once everything is rearranged and will help break user's bad habits of not posting in the correct sections (one can hope, at least). Time will tell

Its intresting how this thread has quickly gathered momemtum in the space of 24hrs, yet the sticky asking for user's input on what changes they want out of SN only briefly scratched the surface with regards to the sales sections Is Stu on everyone's ignore list?

What pi$$es me off is a new trend of seller who posts everything they have for a sale as a separate thread instead of just one!

I had a few bits for sale (still have a Hawkeye Sports cat ) and it’s seemed like you needed to Bump it every few hours to keep it on the top 3 or 4 pages. I had to search for my own post to update items to sold. I agree that breakers could do with their own area, and that we need a general none Subaru related sales area.

However after all the horror stories you read about people being ripped off so far all the people I have traded with have been great guys and real enthusiasts, faith in scoobynet restored.

I agree eighths concept of 1 for sale thread, problem is that the stuff never sells. I usually try 1 big thread then after a week or 2 break it out into separate threads.

Hello guys,,

Ive read this thread with great interest, as youve all noticed ive been posting a lot in the general section, (which ive paid strongly for the privelidge)

Ive never started threads in attempt to upset enthusiasts and im sorry if we have,

As most of you propably dont realise Ive been a member of the subaru community for over 6 years and have a personal account on here which my registered user name is Andyd9577, I started out like everybody else on here, I just took the big step to make a career out of my hobby,

Ive been in business for over 5 years dealing with thousands of owners and enthusiasts over the years,

I have also moved premises and set up a unit dedicated to the PROPER recycling of Subaru parts, All our Hazardous fluids are removed and stored correctly, this has come to a great expense, So yes it is a fully VAT registered business, with overheads, so if our parts are a bit pricier than other members this is the reason, Im always fair with my pricing, ive even sent parts out for free this week

Ive registered as a Trade advertiser on here to offer enthusiast used parts at a discount price,, and what shocks me most is the amount of people who have commented their dismay on this thread who have bought off us this week

I agree with the comments made about a seperate section for us traders and i believe it is in the pipeline,, therefore i,ll calm down on the posting until then, and make full use of it then,,

My final point relates to the nice cars being broken,, ALL these cars have been offered for sale at low prices and have not been bought, its just a shame they are worth more in bits, This allows enthusiasts to purchase cheaper parts and aid in recycling the good parts,

Hope this helps , Andy

I would try to restrict bumping to once a day....and try to get more fellow members to verbally chastise those that take the p*ss by bumping every few hours. The more people that treat those that are excessively bumping with contempt, the quicker the message will hammer home; As everyone bumping just means everyone else goes and does the same and creates a vicious circle as more and more people bump their threads more and more regulaly to keep their advert ahead of yours.

I had to search for my own post to update items to sold.
Have you tried using auto thread subscriptions? It'll save you having to serach for your own threads:

Its in your User CP. under 'edit' options and 'Default Thread Subscription Mode'

I have it set to 'no email notification'.....So it tracks every single thread I create or reply on, and is listed in my User CP. I've had it switched on since August 2004 - thats 12851 threads tracked!

Its great to have a few breakers on board , a separate area would really add to the site

the other thing to consider is there are a few breakers on here that are clearly running it as a buisness yet do not pay to advertise on the forum and i think this is also not fair on companys like above that have contributed to the forum and have every right to post albeit should have there own section

there has to be a line between an authorised advertiser and some of the guys taking the royal **** breaking 1 2 3 cars at a time blatantly for profit...

Whats the difference between the "general" for sale section and the "non car related items" sale section ?

I think it's a good idea but there are too many sections IMHO LOL........apart from one is full of razors DVD's

New FS section is bloody awful. Looks like the site is gearing towards the needs of the several thousand posting spammers on here, you cant use the new post function due to the amount of crap posted in non FS or technical section daily and now to come on and browse FS only is going to be a nightmare.

Great move SN. The section worked fine for the 6 years I have used this site yet now its been thrown into chaos because a minority of users dont like breakers & traders posting when they paid for the rights.

Name and shame section!!

And on the point of having breakers on the forum, surely this gives buyers somewhere to purchase parts without the threat of being scammed?
