How can anything I've said on this thread be considered Fanboyism? Apple did start a revolution with the release of the iPod, iPhone and now iPad, that's simple to see, nothing to do with being a fan at all, just simple facts. If the iPad was insignificant then why is CEBIT full of major players hyping iPad clones that aren't even available yet.

Hands up if you work with professional 3D software, just you then Jura. For everything else I can use a Mac and even if I did have a need for some 3D software I could install Windows, fully supported by Apple, unlike the Hack you've had to perform to run OSX.

Good to you Jack for shares

About the 3D SW,you can run 3D SW on Mac,but if you are running the 3D Max,AutoCad etc on Mac is painfully slow i mean rendering(i have before Mac,just plastic/white on this was painfully slow rendering on XP,Parallel,Virtual box etc.),maybe with new CPU will be better but now i have Snow Leopard on PC,which is legally brought OS...

So let me get tis straight. Microsoft provide their OS for a Mac legally and supported yet Apple do not do the same for non Apple hardware with OSX so to run it it has to be hacked and yet Apple get praised???? LOL! This gets more ridiculous by the day!

No mac make their hardware to allow windows to be installed from any windows cd/DVD not a mac specific one. Apple gladly show this option in utilities unlike windows.

Did write a long post, but when I tried to post I got a connection reset error. Can't be arsed to type it all again so will just be brief.

iPad not innovation, tablets been around for ages.
Still not sure what good tablets are, expensive way to browse net.
For me multi channel sound outputs and MIDI interface would be good as I think they have potential for music applications.

As for shares, I have some in ARM so I'm good pretty much whoever does well in the mobile device market.

Damn you Apple!

Click HERE to visit the Apple iPad website for full spec for those that haven't seen it yet.

I had convinced myself I wouldn't want to upgrade from my iPad to an iPad 2, but now having watched the video on the Apple website.....I want one! (but realistically I highly doubt I will be getting one! )

Love the new cover design.

Still use my iPad every day, my laptop is used maybe once a month, and that's generally to backup the iPad and sync with iTunes.

Will have to have a look at one "in the flesh" after they are released. 25th March according to the Apple website.

Love everything they've evolved, but disappointed about them not improving the display. Would people consider this a proper 'second' version of the iPad? or more of an iPad 1GS?
Am I right in remembering a review when iPad1 came out where someone had taken it apart and there was clearly areas where the camera's would go?

Yep, same memory sizes (16GB, 32GB and 64GB)

3G is still an option though and not fitted to all models.

Apple have a app in their utility menu which happily assists you in installing windows as a dualboot.

Last time i checked windows never gave this option.

One of the reasons for that is Windows is very good at working on a vast array of hardware configurations and is relatively hardware agnostic. Where-as OSX, well, isn't so takes all kinds of pain to get it to install on non-Apple hardware. It does work and someone here helped with with a VM where I have OSX running happily.

And you'd be right, but I think you are missing the point by rather a long way here.

Windows is supported on Mac hardware (not that these days it is really any different to PC hardware) because Microsoft licensed it to be so whereas OSX is not supported on PC hardware because Apple refuse to allow it to be so. Indeed they put a company called Psystar out of business for doing just that.

And yet somehow you paint this as a deficiency of Windows and an advantage of Mac LOL!

Yes I understand the hardware conflicts, and I agree it is a shame it can't be like
Windows where it's compatible with nearly all hardware.

I'm sure if apple did this they'd have a bigger % of users globally and take a chunk out of windows %'age

Another device for us to develop and test with! Not sure if we'll go down to the US to get a few on launch day, or wait until the 25th when they will be in Canada, if of course they don't, as last time, find that they HAVE to supply the fat yanks first, before anyone else can possibly have their latest device and thus delay the release date in other countries to accommodate that.

Good to see Steve there too, and he was looking pretty good (TMZ had a video of him walking out of a building to his car and he looked shockingly awful. Of course they didn't mention that he was walking out of a chemo treatment center, and you're never going to look good coming out from there - typical shock jock crap media types)

Specs are pretty much what was expected. Rather like the new Garage Band. 4.3 next week, good good, should be GM on the dev portal this week then.

One thing I really did like was the HDMI out, for ALL apps. We have bi-weekly demos of what we've been working on and it would have been so nice to be able to project output from the device, but that's not been possible, well, think we could do it with jailbreaking, but we're very funny about JB'ing test / dev devices.

The one thing that bothers me is the lack of USB.

Being able to hook an external HD and camera are 2 things i'd do every time i'd use the IPAD and not having that option pretty much means it's purely a browser...

Nothing about the new one makes me want it at all. Oh the cover, granted. Clever I admit.

Other than that, will spend my money on something different rather than the same with a few new bells and whistles. No mention of any of my main gripes with the iPad 1 being sorted lol

Not what I was expecting at all actually. Not leaps and bounds ahead for the next year at all.

Happy purchasing people.

Garage Band and iMovie look incredible.

People on here said I was nuts when the first iPad came out and I stated that it could replace a laptop.

It looks pretty good and I'm really liking the Smart Cover. Still don't think it's for me though. I'm not sure what I'd use one for.

You are, it isn't a replacement for a laptop, nowhere near! I like this alot more than iPad, but it's no laptop replacement.

See what I mean! Geezer, read the whole thread.

"Still use my iPad every day, my laptop is used maybe once a month, and that's generally to backup the iPad and sync with iTunes."

Haha, I see what you mean. However, two swallows don't make a summer.

I will hold the lemon for not reading the whole (well, I skipped bits...), but ain't sucking because one person agrees with you

Just to show the other side I know three people who bought one and only of them uses it now. The other two went back to their notebooks (one Windows, one Mac).
