Whatever, if it makes you feel happy to think a cat can damge your car then who am I to deprive you of that thought.

Im not to sure why this has got so catty Surely its just some banter with a few laughs involved, and not some dark undercurrent with a meeting of the cat killers,as if it were the latter my bet is they wouldnt post.Having a laugh is what makes some of the best reading take that away and whats left

Not been here long have you son?

NSR used to have thread after thread about how cats were the spawn of the devil and ingenious ways to kill them. It was all rather pathetic frankly.

I don't want to do anything irrational but the car has to stay outside in my parking bay.

What shall I do?
Try these:
*Give your neighbour the invoice for the damage.
*Smack the cat on the head with a shovel.
*Stick it in a wheelie bin on bin day.
*Leave antifreeze out for it.
*Get a dog and set it on it.

At the end of the day its only a flee covered cat.

They attacked a neighbour and their dog as a tag team and routed the pair of them. Last thing at night I have to chase the damn things around the house to ensure they sleep in the porch, or the place gets trashed overnight.
Then they sit on you while you're watching telly, not giving a hoot that you can't stand the sight of them and probably have an allergy.
Cats .. Pfff..
Ha, ha! That's precisly why I absolutely love them! Reading between the lines, I think you're actually quite proud of them?
I recently lost my beloved ex-feral (rescued from a local airfield!) to cancer and it devestated me. We called him Beavis (If you remember the cartoon character, you'll understand why!) he would also attack dogs, the bigger the better and I've had to apologise many times to the owners!
It is a real problem that they love to sit on the car and we had this with the lad as well. As said, an old detailer spray bottle with water eventually does the trick (sprayed with, not hit with!)
Don't hurt them - they have the same right to live on this planet as you or me.

You can buy a cat repellent gel called scent off- not sure how well it works, but I think that any product designed to keep cats away from flower beds would work if you sprinkle them in the area where the car is parked.

Is all the damage from claws or is it very large/heavy and denting the metal?!

he would also attack dogs, the bigger the better and I've had to apologise many times to the owners!

This is the problem right here.
You knew your cat attacks dogs and you allowed it to continue.
What if your cat had harmed another dog or your cat was killed by a dog it attacked.
Then who'd be crying ?

Take some f-cking responsibility will you

But I see no need in hurting them. I dont like cats but I dont want to hurt them.
I'm more than happy to shoot animals as long as I am only doing it for food and legitamatly.
Besides I don't think I could finish a whole cat !

If I was to expierience this problem of cats scratching my car...
Then

I'd speak to owner first with a bill for damage
If no response follow up with a solicitors letter.
There is a clause where cat owners can be held responsible ( I'll try to find it)
After having exhausted all rational ways to rectify the problem...
I'd consider
Humanely catching said cat with a humane trap...and relocate said cat as far away from where I live as possible.
The owner would have had all opertunities to sort the problem before I would consider this move

I would have taken every "f-cking" responsibility, had the need arisen. Short of keeping him indoors all the time, which is not the natural environment for a cat, it would have been impossible to monitor his movements. I certainly didn't encourage him (not sure you could 'encourage' a cat?) and always chastised him if he did. The dogs were those being walked, by their owners, past the house, not neighbouring pets.
My comment was not a boast, it was simply part of a response to a previous post which included a dog attacking comment!

My way....

High pressured hose... Knock it off before the claws came out.

Ejector seat style bootlid to launch the cat off the car..... Cats always land on their feet and don't have a problem with the height.

Or water pistol it when it gets near the car, they are supposed to be smart so should learn quite quickly.

Would still go to the owner and have a word..... Or send some "friends" to have a word on your behalf

And yes cats are rats from HELL!!!
