Seriously F1, reading your posts anyone would believe your understanding of the country's military budget is that if we're not actually in an all-out shooting war with somebody, the whole apparatus costs us diddly-squat. That can't possibly be true, and while Iraq and Afghanistan might well be costing / have cost a hell of a lot more than routine training ops back home or wherever they're normally run, Gadaffi has a grand total of 30 fighters in its entire air-force. Try to get some perspective on this, before you turn into a gurning parody of yourself.

Would an attack jet be able to take out a tank without killing too many people around it? Would a helicopter gunship be better for this purpose?

I don't see any coherent opposition to the intervention, just stuff about practicality and cost...a pretty weak position.

Almost as weak as the Gadaffi regimes legitimacy.

Reading my posts anyone would believe??? Nope, just you. If you really think the cost difference between being active on 3 fronts is remotely the same as keeping our forces trained and prepared, but not being actively engaged on any front then the only conclusion I can reach is you are a retard.

I suspect that they are hoping a little that the 'shock and awe' will stress the Gadaffi regime and make it fall, as it is well known that Desert Fox (the 1998 bombing of Saddam) almost tipped Saddam over.

Anyway it's interesting that the US is now bombing Gadaffi in the context of Lockabie. The reach of US justice if long it would seem...they don't forget.
