yes -- the styling is "marmite" and very 70's but actually I was pleasantly surprised, in the flesh it looks quite pretty
I tried to talk him into a 355 at the very least -- but he needed the 4 seats as in reality he bought it for his 12 year old son

My dad bought a Ferrari when I was 8.
And a 928 when I was 9.
And three uR Quattros when I was 10.
And a 400bhp P100 Ford pickup truck when I was 10.
And a 300bhp BBR Shogun when I was 11.
And a new mk1 GTi tuned to 200bhp when I was 11.
Hmm - wonder why I'm interested in cars...?

impressive list Mattee (especially the uR Quattros) -- how come you ended up with a diesel estate
suppose it's that natural rebellious tendency of the offspring

sounds like the car list of Ben Dover
my dad had quite an impressive list of powerful cars, but never liked to drive them over 55 mph.
he just never got/understood cars !

Hi Hodgy ,
yes I have to be honest .
I have done 3000 miles in the Merc since I bought it !! Nearly two years ago .
Got it for sale or return with the guys I bought it from .(could not be arsed with tyre kickers knocking on the door )
Smoking around in a Mundano 2.2 tdci ,which is all I need really .The state of the roads oop north makes driving the Merc a pain as Im constantly dodging holes as the 20 inchers are pretty unforgiving .
Not the easiest thing to sell in this climate though at 100 quid to fill up for 200 miles of driving but hey ho .Still looks a beaut of a car though so the itch was scratched for now .
Have you done much on the new place ?

not much tbh -- bit on the garden, woodburning stove (brilliant)
re the merc- can't you take a leaf out of your old mans book and attach a horse to it - sort of Borat style, luxury and economy (not that fast though - but you could add another horse )

Could you pm details of the wood burner .I have been toying with the idea myself for a while .Give us a bit of info on it .(dont want to bore everyone on here about it or drag the thread off course .)
Regards
Rob .

The main cost for me was the warranty, insurance and fuel.
Tax is cheap if you get the right age car, servicing is not cheap but only needs a service every 2 years or 20k.
So all in all, the cost was very reasonable.
Without the warranty though, its a numbers game.
