Yes, I took the grilles apart and painted the black inserts which go between the color coded surround and the mesh. A bit fiddly getting them off and apart but better than finding everything getting stuck together by the paint.

Fair play mate, they're not to everyone's taste and maybe I'll get tired of them in due course and strip the grilles out and replace them with carbon ones, but for now they stay and to be fair that picture in that light makes them leap out of the front end 
I'm going to put rear corner lips on the back which are very much in keeping with the front lip, trouble is I can only find plastic ones so they'll have to do.
