Best place to get one and best type depends on what state of tune the car is in.

If it's standard-ish, running a topmount intercoler, etc, then you can get one for your model from a scrapper, e-bay etc, and none are better than the standard Subaru one.

After 1999 they were bolted to the intercooler, before that they were on the end of a short pipe connected to the intercooler.

i've got a re-circ, resonator delete pipe, Apexi induction kit, carbon air intake and bonnet risers. Makes a great noise underload and when lifting off, best of both worlds, with no engine damage

turbosmart dual port:-

its adjustable so you can decide how much air is recirculated like the standard DV n how much is dumped to atmosphere and is therefore audiable. as quiet or as loud as you want it.

i've got a Turbosmart Supersonic on my 2003 WRX -- came fitted when i bought it.

It's ok i guess but mpg seems rubbish even for a scoob (this is my 3rd one - first with a VTA dump valve). Also, i'm not sure about the sound outside the car, but inside you can hear a 'flutter' noise when you lift off quick with some boost on, it's cool in a 'sounds like rally car... wooo!' impress the mates style for few days but i'm not sure it's for me.

Going to get a Forge re-circ one i think, nothing wrong with the noises and that but i think standard is for me!
