hi matey yes its deffo possible for coolant to expand and leak out of the cap if its to full, might be an idea to save a few quid and buy yourself a cheap pressure test kit take it for a fast run and then test it your self instead of paying a garage to do it for you, do you have the chance to get it upp in the air yourself to check for leaks after a fast run ?

just thinking out load but you can do exactly the same as what the garage will do your self instead of forking out the dosh

before you do this if there is any trace of a coolant leak from before give the motor a good clean this will then make the new leak more visible to see.

dont really have the things to get it up properly to get under etc
doesnt really seem to leak
only came out after it was driven hard
did seem to be a bit wet around the top

they did a pressure test before and said it was all fine
but i duno if they did it when hot or cold or if it makes a difference ;d

umm to bad, n yes matey deffo makes a difference, sadly sounds like its a trip to the garage then matey but inform them that its only after a hot run, if poss get a time for the test so you can do the drive your self.

some garages will just start it and leave it running for 10 mins or so and then do the test which is a waste of time, it needs a good run.

aye the garage know pretty sure i told them last time too heh
but supposedly the old rad was pretty split and an obvious cause of the coolant loss

yea they would have seen that staright away replaced it done a quick pressure test to make sure all connections they had touched were good maybe quick road test round the block given you a call very much doubt they would have strained the system and got it real hot for a proper test.

well ive got it back, they pretty much couldnt find anything wrong with it

slight leak at a T Bar connector connected to a pipe off of the coolant expansion tank
so they have zip tied it up to stop it .

they took it for a good drive, got it nice and hot and still no problems
another pressure test and sniff test, no problems

gonna keep an eye on it and see how i get on

as for the oil , they said it could just be cheap oil ;evaporating; ?? off
either way i reckon it def had cheapo oil it, will give it a interim service at some point soon

At the interim service get a zerosports thermostat put in and a quality coolant like Motul Inugel. These will keep running temps way down Get a quality oil like Motul 300 15/50 aswell I bet your car is running low to high 90's at the moment, mine runs low 80's most of the time which is preferable running temps

If you're down my way again soon mate I am happy to connect my diagnostic to read the temps going on to see if yours is running higher than is desirable

ive put a litre of motul in it, got 5 litres from opie to give to who ever does my service heh will get some more to make sure ive got some to top up with

ive ordered a bluetooth odb2 connector (well 15 days ago now:/) and ive an app for my phone to see if i can get a reading on my temps etc
they did swap out the coolant for "something decent" when i had the rad done, not sure which

is the thermostat a straight swap for the original? i take it its just a more accurate stat and gets the fan on quicker etc etc?

the cars never been past the mid point on my incar thermostat, although i know its not that accurate :d

just a word of warning matey make sure its a recommended garage u get the service done at or a scooby member that has the facilities to do oil change or you will find that your opie will be sat in some one elses car and the garages standard oil will be sat in yours

aye i had a car in at a main ford dealer before, it came back out and they'd swapped my k&n for a ford paper filter...
they reckon they didnt notice it was a k&n and swaped it as per the service, they managed to recover my k&n from "the bin" when i went back to complain

Thermostat opens at 71dgs rather than 78dgs and allows cooler running. Straight swap
