Gti-6 would leave a decent space between itself and a VTS with the right driver, same as with a clio sport 172.

Ok lads, I’m not going to rise to the bait this time…..much I’ve raced my mate at works Clio loads of times in many different circumstances and it will pull a 1.5-2 car length lead on the VTS from 0-100mph which is what I’d expect. The GTI-6 will not. If you race the GTI-6/VTS over and over again and average it out I expect that the 306 will be the quicker car but by a very small margin. What was your best time on the day Ryan? Mines were 15.3 and bluenoses’ Clio 172 was 15.2.

In a thread I created before I went to Crail I was arguing extensively with a lad down south who said the 306 GTI would ‘destroy’ a VTS. He proudly claimed a Pod time of 15.3 for the quarter mile. I went to Crail, had a brilliant time, and couldn’t believe I posted a 15.3 I think that, and the fact your GTI was pretty much even with the VTS the whole way, says it all. It maybe marginally quicker (167bhp and 6 gears v’s 120-30 and 5) but is would never destroy a VTS.

I doubt my VTS will be racing at Crail again (saving cash, and I only wanted to know it’s time) but I’ll happily race you in my Scooby when I get it

Doh – In true fish fashion I am now thoroughly reeled in!

BTW – I’m not knocking the 306 GTI, I longed for one for ages but the free insurance on the VTS was just too valuable and it’s worked out for the best anyway cause now I can afford to insure a Scooby. If I were given one for free I’d probably have it over the VTS but that’s got more to do with the extra size and interior than performance.

Ryan – welcome to Scoobynet BTW.

Ryan, don't worry about it mate, if you read the rest of his postings you will see Saxo Boy lives in his own little world.

I've driven against enough Saxo VTS's to know my 306 Rallye is a good bit quicker to 100. The Xsara VTS is a surprisingly quick car however.

Wise up, the Saxo will fight with big brother Xsara any time of the week. I quickly learned when joining this forum only to post fact.......so:

Fact: 15.3 quarter mile

The defence rests your honour

The wagging back end is rubbish!! The car is very controllable and easy to sort out
Tell that to the 306 GTi driver at Castle Combe last week, who lifted off going in to a bend...
