It will depend which track we are on
Compare the roadkill meerkat
The data is interesting as once I hit 50mph I would be pulling away from you right up to VMAX

The verdict
Nissan GT-R is noticeably faster.
Quelle suprise! Those times look inline with what i'd expect, however naturally subjective variables in there such as driver, track conditions etc etc....however my slightly breathed on GTR is a whole different animal than what is depicted on that website, but again not really comparable...

If you compare the RS with the 911 Turbo it looks the the turbo annihilates the RS times. But the RS is much quicker from 100-200kph.
4WD and launch control is distorting the dynamic acceleration figures - even looking at standing start figures the RS is pulling away from the GTR above 100mph (I must admit I was surprised by this!).
But you are right - this is for standard cars - not the chavvy tuned ones

Great little website that Trout, I guess the RWD platform and mimimum drivetrain losses of the RS are benfiting it at higher speeds, GTR isn't geared for the top end of the speedo and with the stock torque curve they do start to run out of puff in 6th gear....
Slightly more back on topic, http://www.fastestlaps.com/compariso...ssan_gt-r.html
the Traitors chalk up another victory

The bit in your link that made me laugh is the quote from the feedback
I bet M3 owners get more girls than GT-R owners.
Lol
At least we win somewhere !

Ian, bits i like that perhaps your rose tinted glasses prohibited from observing are:
31 lap victories to the GTR vs 1 victory to the M3 as the GTR time was set in the wet.
The verdict
Nissan GT-R is noticeably faster.
"Can this really be true? The M3's times are really lacking compared to the Gt-R. The kraut kar got biaached slapped. "
"The gt-r makes the m3 look punk *** on every track on the planet. Along came a GT-R and kicked the M3 in the nuts. "

Quick google suggest GT3 RS has drag co-efficient of 0.33 and the GTR has 0.27....i'm no physics boff but there's clearly something lacking in the GTR out the factory that hampers its top end abilities, weight? gearing in relation to torque curve? i don't know....however quick remap later and this achillies heel is drastically solved!

If you're using your car to pick up girls then you're clearly making up for something else, but don't worry we won't tell anyone. Other than that the only girls you'd be picking up while driving are those that offer themselves from the curb, speaks volumes for the profile of M3 owners

As for all the other stuff , I'm not bothered as my car will never see a track , bought one as I love the car , it's quick enough for my use.
I get my kicks rallying , bouncing off the track at 100 + mph looking at big drops off the side of the mountain

Frontal area will make the difference though - the frontal area of a 911 is relatively small and this really helps it, in spite of a relatively poor drag co-efficient.

Do you think deals like that are available now Trout, or were you just in the right place at the right time?
I couldn't get in my mates GTR as the door handles were sunk into the door. He reckoned this was to enable aerodynamics.

Can't get anywhere near that price for a pre-reg now!
As much as I'd like one, there's something telling me I'd be daft to have two 3 series coupes in the family.
Not sure what to get - I need to change my car but what for?
