One thing I like about nitro, is you can be out there for hours, literally. No dead batteries to worry about, just fill it up and off you go again.

Lol, I always found if you got it running right on the day, it would be ok, but some days would be totally different.

The tune can vary massively depending on the weather.

do a search on youtube for hpi Flux cars, the cars running LiPo 6s batteries are mental.

running time you see about 25mins.

remember a 5litre can of nitro fuel is about £20-25!! more than SUL!!!!

least with batter its clean.. plug and play fun

Some ESCs have onboard cut off, some don't so you should have an alarm cut off or similar.

Yep, on the HPI Flux stuff you set it to a cut off point so the battery doesn't run totally flat, the instructon book tells you, but I found a YouTube clip telling how to do it on my BULLET, so I followed it stage by stage, play/pause/play/pause etc till I was at the same setting the gy on the YouTube clip had
dead easy, once done you don't have to do it again.

For Lip's have a look on Ebay, look for the TURNIGY brand, you also need a Lipo charger.
again these are ££'s cheaperon ebay than in the shops selling the same thing

Just ordered one of these

Avante Black Special.

To be honest I was never going to because I already have an Avante 2011 but I decided never to build the 2011 I would never actually get to build a new Avante.

The Black Special has only just been released and at vast expense one is on its way from Hong Kong right now.

The car comes with black and pink wheels. The pink wheels will be going on my Egress which is due its restoration as soon as the Black Special arrives.

Hopefully will have my Optima Mid complete soon so will post pics up when its complete. Only taken a year!!

Avante looks good

I've just bit the bullet and ordered everything to do a brushless conversion on my Hyper. Will be running a Turnigy Trackstar 2650 motor with an Xerun 150A ESC on 4s, should be fun my conversion kit and ESC arrived in about 3 days from TCmodels in Hong Kong (excellent service) I'm still waiting on Lipos and motor from Hobby King, ordered at the same time as the TCmodels gear but only actually shipped almost a week after ordering oh well, you can't grumble at their prices!
I'll get some pics up when it's done.

For the first time in ages I didn't get charged. I got stung badly on a Tamiya 501x from the states because you have to pay all the fees plus some odd £10 to Parcel Farce for "handling"

On the suggestion from my wife its going in the loft with the 2011. I'll rob the pink wheels for the Egress but I'm going to hold off building until I know how limited this car is going to be. Some think Tamiya will only do one run and thats it. If thats the case I might build the 2011 and keep the Black Special.

Bumping this to show off a couple of my recent builds

Tamiya Egress

The Egress originally came out in the late 80s and this car is made from almost all new parts.

And a few pics of the Avante Black Special. The Avante was another 80s Tamiya model. Over complicated and over weight it was never going to win any races but from a design point of view it is stunning. The Egress was actually Tamiya's attempt to make the avante competitive. It never really worked.

In other news Tamiya have re-released the Wild One. This was my first RC car so I have to buy at least one. The wife has promised me one for Christmas but not sure I can wait that long

Quick Reply: what RC car have you got?
