I dont know why you just dont buy a twin scroll engine rather than add half the engine from an MY01 JDM?

And with the money spent on the engine and the gearbox supplied let alone fitted you could of bought a bug sti, sold your type are and tuned it with the cash and had a 450 monster Rather then a 320-350 type r

Oh the joy of spanking money on cars, don't we just love it. I hate to think of the cash I have wasted over the years but wouldn't change it one bit lol

I would still take the twin scroll 350 Type R (money considerations slightly to one side)

Have you driven the bug ????
Or should I say, have you seen your reflection in a shop window while driving the bug.

Sorry chaps but my own opinion (along with a vast majority of Subaru lovers) is that the bugeye is one ugly Fu*king motor, prodrive or not, just doesn't float my boat. I would much rather spend the extra and have a well sorted classic (oh I have, lol).
But on the other hand it's not me buying it, so my opinion along with everybody elses really doesn't matter. It's if you like it buddy.

one thing i would say is thie type r will be worth more money then a bug sti in a few years to come and why go bug why not get a blob 03-04 as i thought they were the best engines and gear box that subaru did but i have a classic runnign alomost 400bhp with a six speed and i love that ruff and tought ride on the road and id find it very hard to get rid of it for a new age and if i did it would be a blob as they are a good looking subaru but saying that cant you do the blob face lift to a bug

engine 800
gearbox 1800 inc helix clutch
twin scroll con 650
simtek 1000 with avcs added

less the sale of my box engine turbo and ecu makes for 3500 in extra cost and in a type r the best looking of all in cool grey not a bad investment i dont think???

So 3.5k to run the same power as you had.......urrmmmm not an investment in my book, plus if you then add labour charges to that figure to get the real cost unless you can fit it yourself then your claimed 3.5k is very miss leading. now 3.5k spent on a massive blower, injectors, front mount and a road munching beast in your fingers now that is an investment but I do agree the type r is steel grey is by far the best colour don't get me wrong if I.had the option to buy a type r already done then it would win hands down but to spend out all that cash on a type r then umm not to sure.

It was a complete engine and turbo set up from a 2007 jdm sit into a classic minus the avcs, a vf37 turbo and only running 325bhp but it was awesome on A and B roads.

Even managed a 12.7 1/4 mile

Drove my m8s twin scroll classic v3 sti 350/350 and its amazing , the spool comes so early after the blast my car felt like a turtle , but when it comes to money its another question. The bug would be a better car with bigger tuning potential , cause of box, brakes etc. Also 450 bug would feel as much fun as a 350 classic but safer, faster (lap times) and most important - much more reliable. I have a classic v3 and love it to bits, but i dont think i will ever go splashing 3k it as its just not worth it. Bug or Blob is the way forward unfortunately ....but thats only MO.

Must confess I can't see why all the fuss is being made about the bug's looks. If peeps are will to spend £1000s on mods, surely a few hundreds can be spared for morette or prodrive headlights. I reckon they look pretty good with that simple mod.

Good point Andy, aside from the lights there's not much difference between the bug, blob and hawk.

Yes, its a type R, but it cost a fortune, due to condition (1 owner from new, 32K miles, absolutely spotless) and spec (motec ecu, aps induction, aps fmic, running 340bhp). Oh yes, and took me ages to find it............
