Answer is 2. Jeez..... over half the people got it wrong.
- Work out brackets first.
- Multiplications take precedence over divides.
48÷2(9+3)
48÷2(12)
48÷24
2

Google it, answer is 288.

Surely the absence of the '*' between the '2' and the '(' indicates that the 2(9+3) should be treated as one entity
At least that's how I was taught
The fact that Google says it's 288 convinces me even more that the answer is actually 2

It's BODMAS, always BODMAS.
B Brackets first
O Orders (ie Powers and Square Roots, etc.)
DM Division and Multiplication (left-to-right)
AS Addition and Subtraction (left-to-right)
48/2(9+3)
48/2(12)
24×12
288

5 beers in and it's still simple.
How can this be a debate?
Saying that, it's its, whose who's, brought bought, and many other's () also go by without challenge.

I tend to grind my teeth and ignore posts with those in these days. Gave up long ago trying to correct the grammar of others.
