I was there on Thursday and the grass is not painted - they just spend a lot of time and effort getting it to that condition. The course is closed all winter and all summer so it can only be played during spring and autumn and the Masters tournament is very early in the spring period so the course is always in immaculate condition. Also the water is not particularly clear and full of wildlife (I saw turtles in one pond) so I don't think they treat it with anything.

Lots of golf courses do use paint (actually a coloured fertiliser) on the greens because they have to open all year round and can't afford as many groundskeepers as Augusta National.

This is a man that understands!

They do use coloured elements, for example of the teeboxes they use green mix to fill in the divots otherwise the beige/brown on green looks poor. I think it enhances the look of the place.

As I said before, cricket??? a field full of men dressed in white? that used to be an activity reserved for the men in the deep south of the US.

Loving the Masters coverage on the telly. Each to their own that's what I say. I took up golf as an excuse to get a day away from the wife Separated now so don't play as much. It's a good day out with mates and we usually have a few beers in the golf bag to have on the way round

Yeah, but he'll get over it.
I was expecting that to happen on the third round to be honest.

I must be most disliked on SN (aside from being a mod ) - I went to the Grand National on Saturday and watched the Masters on Sunday

Was great to watch and even better when Luke Donald won me £70.

Scraping the barrel again Tony. Thats a hell of a lot of grass to paint, they deserve all the praise if they managed to do that! Its easier to see the ***** when the water is clear! Do they paint the azaleas and the dogwood as well, or are they all plastic ones. You seem to have the inside knowledge!

Funnily enough, despite all your erudite revelations, I still very much enjoyed watching the championship. Just for the sake of the match really!

I love golf playing and watching, I play a minimum twice a week but have been known to play 36 holes in a day at different courses. I still manage to be rubbish at it. Golfers are generally more honest, intelligent and sophisticated than non golfers hence some being very smug. I also went to Aintree this week and managed to go to the Heiniken Cup quarter final sunday so for those that have an issue with the completely false impression about certain sports being elitist I am your perfect target.

Ive been playing golf for a few years now and love getting a round in when I can

It gets you away from the world for a few hours, has some fantastic views & landscaped greenery. I'm no Tiger Woods but know cares, as long as you abide with the etiquette of the game 99% of people are really friendly

Great way to de-stress and forget about the daily grind (having said that its really annoying at times when you spoon a drive into the next county!).

Not everyone cup of tea, but each to their own

When I was an Alarm engineer we used to do alot of golf club pro shops and club houses around Berkshire and Surrey. It was great wandering round the pro shop and club house aswell as having lunch in the members bar in dirty overalls and looking at all the snobby toffs looking down their noses at us. Was told by a toff once that I was not supposed to be in the bar as I was not a member, think he was the club captain. Didn't make any difference, Just told him I was installing the alarm system and if he didn't like it then he could go and speak to the club manager or whatever dumb title they have.

He didn't like us parking pur van in his parking space either

Another huge golf fan here! It's a great tournament to watch regardless if you are a golfer or not!

When I was 19 I was playing off 3, about to turn pro, 7 years later I'm a seasoned insurance broker who plays weekend golf......go figure!!
