I'm so glad I don't have kids. 2 nephews is enough. What a pain in the **** they are, constant drain on your finances & ruin everything in sight when they are toddlers.

It's safe to say I won't be infecting the gene pool with my seed. I love my nephews but thank **** I can give them back after a few hours.

I've got two and can't imagine life without them. They are 17 and 20 now, so the pesky time is over. I can honestly say, they were not that much of a PITA when they were little.
Jamz, you are too young to be thinking about kids anyway. Wait until you are in your thirties, I bet you change your mind and post in here about your impending offspring

He may not, at 37, the urge to breed is less strong with me than when I was in my 20's.

Young people who don't want kids, that's normal. But, most people do eventually have kids and love having them, so if you don't, I'm sorry but you're odd

You need a woman to have kids.

I suspect some of these bozos haven't had sex 'with a woman' for some time (ever?) and find it easy to say they don't want kids, as they've yet to find someone to reproduce with.

Geezer
That's true, most people these days don't seem to plan to have a child at a certain point, but are pretty happy to have one if it happens.

I think most people who aren't bothered do in time have a child.
Unless men and women stop having sex people will continue to expand the population. Contraception is not 100% so if you are having sex, one way or another pregnancy will occur at somepoint.
Just because the man isn't aware of it, doesn't mean it hasn't happened.

It isn't sad & I'm not 'odd' (well not that odd) for the way I see it. I'm certainly not lonely & bored. I have a wife & we both agree on the children issue.

I always find it amusing when people say to me "you'll have kids one day" - no, I won't

With a 50% divorce rate & lots of bloke being shafted by the CSA I see no joy in being a Saturday dad.

My decision to refrain from breeding is a personal one. Kids are great but **** me they are a lot of hard work.

I never wanted kids, but I don't regret having them for a second. I might regret who I had them with, but that's not their fault. The joy they bring you is amazing.

I think that yourself and others who do not want any children full stop are in the minority, but I admire the fact that one reason for not wanting a child is because you will never be there.
I think that it's nice to have things set in stone, but what happens if your wife did get pregnant? Like I said, it does happen when people don't want to.
Would that be your world turn upside down? Or would you think, oh well....?

When I found out I was pregnant with my son, we were both over the moon. BUT when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter when my son was only just 17 months old I was terrified, but we always wanted two children, so we thought... Oh well, and accepted it.

Now I have a type of contraception (coil) that pretty much has made me temporarily infertile. No monthly issues, mood swings and best of all no chance of getting pregnant (as I'm not ovulating).
But unless I was using this contraception, I would be very accepting that it could happen again. I was on the pill before when it happened before!

It's a good job I'm not your partner

With my super fertile sperm 'that look' would have seen you repeatedly pregnant like a washing cycle

Always been my point of view but now with baby #1 imminent I'm guessing my perspectives may change. Never wanted kids but the missus was adamant that we should so I begrudgingly went along with it secretly hoping I was sterile, couple of months later and that hope was dashed. I seriously scared that I won't "bond" with it and just think that it has ruined my (our?) lives but they say when it arrives things change significantly.

One thing is for certain it will not be behaving like some of our friends brats who come round from time to time. Discipline and manners seem to be going out of the window in so many cases and the parents just seem to accept it. I don't ******* care if it's not acceptable, behave like that and they'd be getting a slap then sent to bed for the rest of the day

That is a question I have asked myself on numerous occasions. I would talk to my wife & see what she wanted to do, it's her body at the end of the day & her decision ultimately. If she decided to keep it I would make the best of it & give it the best life I could. I don't hate children I would just prefer not to spawn any.

I am in a minority, I realise that. We are no different to any other animal except we have free will to decide whether to breed or not. Some people should not be allowed to have children, others are never blessed with kids & try for years to have them. Others like me have no interest in having kids.

Being berated for not wanting children is a bit harsh, but that's opinions for you.

DJ Jon, you have no need to explain yourself.

Being 25 and being with my missus for 5 years I get asked repeatedly about marriage and children. Neither marriage or children appeal to me in the slightest.

I don't believe people when they tell me about the miracle of children and the joy they bring, all I see in downtrodden individuals on the brink of destruction so they have to believe the lie that is the miracle of life.

Fact is I dislike children, I would rather get a dog. I don't even like my nieces and nephews and no amount of trying to cling on the life and leaving a legacy will make me feel otherwise.

I can understand your feelings about the risk to your valuables. What is really annoying is when you have badly behaved children in your house destroying bits of your property and the parents do nothing about it and laugh as though it is funny!

People like that don't get invited back.

I was exactly the same at your age. And here I am now, with two kids, who are great, no regrets.

Never say never.

DJ Jon, when I said 'odd', I didn't mean it in a deragotory way, just that it's not the norm.

For the minority of people who go through life not wanting children, that's fine. Whatever makes you happy, really.

No he doesn't I agree, but I think when someone is of an opposite view point to their own, it is natural for people to want to understand.

I didn't see anyone saying it's wrong not to have children, it isn't.

I would never tell someone that having children is a blessing or miracle, as it isn't.
It's hard work being a parent, and if you don't think you would enjoy all of what comes with it, bad or good, then it probably is best not to have a child.

The easy bit is getting pregnant, that's the fun bit, but it's scary as **** when you go home and you are responsible for that child for the rest of their life.
Its not as easy as people think, it tests your patience, your relationship, your love for each other, but it also makes you stronger, it makes you more patient with life and it teaches you a whole new level of love.

Before my children were born Mr P was like all other men, young and pretty much carefree. We were not married, and as much as we were committed to each other despite that, having our first child changed our relationship massively.

The day my son was born, he became a man.

Of course this is true.

..and we should be thankful for that. There are lots of sexually abused children where the abuser has been female. This can lead to attachment difficulties with other women.

"The gays" can provide a perfect long term solution.
