For me personally, it's partly money. I couldn't afford to give up work or even go part time, and I don't have the family able to help out regarding childcare so I would be able to continue working.

But of course, more importantly, I don't like children (well not enough to have one)

Children are a bit like Iphones. If someone has been suckered in buying one with its rediculously expensive monthly charges then they feel it is necessary to explain to others why they are so brilliant and game changing and ofcourse those who don't have them are clearly missing out.

I will stick with my faithful, loyal, dependable (slightly boring)Blackberry. Cheers!

Yeah it's pretty (very) empty.

Can't fault you Lisa.
My daughter is 21, never knew her until she was 19 and that suits me just fine.

Go for it, you won't regret it

Seriously, I wasn't trying to be flippant when I mentioned the bike. Learning to ride was, for me at least, hard work and extremely satisfying when I finally cracked it. My wife has been riding for years, so now we have something we both enjoy that we can go out and do together. And we've met loads of new people and made some new friends with which we have something in common.

Yes, it's noisy, expensive and takes effort to look after properly - but the worst thing I ever have to scrape out from under my fingernails is a bit of road grime or engine oil, and it does at least have an 'off' switch.

I've been riding bikes on and off since i was 14 (moto-crossers and peds). I don't think passing will be an issue, staying alive on the other hand...
