Oh, look, we have a comedian in the house

I'll rephrase my question...

Any specific details on the upgrades? Just pads or discs as well? What sort of zorst is it?

Talking

Ok, lets see (& this will scare me, & lets hope the wife doesn't see!) exactly what I have spent to date:

Engine
Superchip - £450
Milltek full exhaust - £585
Forge DV007 - £80
Total £1115, power is 228 @ 6351rpm, torque is 245 @3000.

Suspension
Koni adjustables allround and H&R springs, £530

Brakes
Group N grooved and drilled discs (standard size 312x25)- £140
Silkolene Prorace 2000 fluid - £50
Ferodo DS3000 pads (pads are a bit harsh for the road. Would be better on DS2500) - £120

Damn, thats £1955, but then again, I only paid 14100 for it in the first place . Ah, I know I forgot to add the suspension into my initial figure. But, its still not bad. I know I will probably get picked up by some on having a Superchip, but I had my reasons. Main was that they now offer a warranty on their stuff so if your dealer says its your chip what caused it, Superchips will pay.

Noise wise, its sounds much better with the downpipe and race cat on, not loud like some of the scoob systems. Doesn't drone on the motorway at all, which is good considering the miles I do. I'm more than willing to take people out for a spin in it, either in this country or at the ring.

Any other questions?

Red face

Now dont take me as suspicious but if superchips are offering to replace blown engines etc doesnt that start ringing alarm bells somewhere?? (was an article in the TT forum about superchips blowing one of the 225's engines... ooooooops!) so 450 quid = 6k engine IMO

Cool

Is their guarantee valid with all these other mods? surely it is for superchip mod only as they cant be responsible for others! Just a thought (scarey one at that).

Still sounds like the best deal for monet so far, just a question though as i've been looking into DV's for the 1.8T engines.
Most people a reporting that the OEM DV is better or no different ot DV007 and in many cases is reducing performance, have you tried swapping between both to check difference?

Yep, had a play with different DVs. I am running the Forge one as it is unlikely to break. The OEM one is good, BUT, is prone to breakage. I think the diaphragm (sp?) splits. If not rectified fairly quickly it leads to turbo damage. I have tried the Forge one with various springs and have found that when it gets very hot (ie on a track) you get some leakage. The engine will be requesting 14.9 PSI, but will only be getting 12. I am now trying a different grease in it with a higher temp rating, so I'll see after I get back from the Ring how much difference it makes. You are right though, some tuners recommend changing it whilst others say leave it alone. Dunno the true answer yet.
