The same could be said about Impreza owners! just because SOME act like *****, it doesn't mean we are ALL *****. Dont tar everyone with the same brush fella !!
However, all Impreza owners probably are slightly mental lol.

This perception, usually by people who have dogs, that you can't have a dog under control if its not on a lead is rubbish.
Just because they don't know how or would rather sit in front of the tv with a can of beer does not mean it's not possible.
If you pay attention to your dog and spend the time and the effort to learn the techniques then you get the results.

I just had to do a full emergency stop tonight, thanks to a dog not on the lead.
I have seen the lady running with her dog, many times. He is always at heel and seems very obedient, but tonight something caught his eye and off he went, straight across the road. She called him back and yes he came, right over the road again. Luckily, I was just pulling away and was able to stop again, quickly. She was mouthing sorry, but she could have been crying her eyes out if I had hit her dog.
There are signs all over our area saying dogs must be on a lead or a fine will be imposed. But, there are signs about the dog crap too, but no one seems to enforce it, so no one bothers to pick it up.

The dog owner who keeps their dog on the lead signifies an owner that has never bothered to train and socialise their dog? If they had they too would be able to trust their dog off the lead. Dogs are social animals by nature, well socialised dogs never get the hump when another dog comes over to say hello. My dog does not need a lead, we only use ours when she is in season or needs to visit the vets, other than that she is well within my control.

But at the end of the day, that dog still has it's own mind (or should have if you have not broken it's spirit), hence retaining that little bit of individuality which is not 100% predictable.

The worst thing about these idiots who bag up their dog sh*t and hang it in a tree or whatever is that if they actually just left it where it lay within a few weeks nature would have dealt with it. In the bag it'll stay there for years 
I often venture out for a stroll at lunch from work. There's an old railway track from the estate that has been gravelled for bikes / walkers, the amount of dog sh*t by the side of that is just gross. I like dogs and would like to have one or two of my own one day. Would always pick up their mess though if it's in a frequently used public place (can't quite see the need if you're on some remote moorland somewhere).

If he barks he gets brought in, he comes on command as the back door is near the fridge, open the door and he forgets what he is barking at.

In public my dogs are kept under close control for their own safety and that of all around, when i release them they get to be dogs and do dog things but even while doing this i am aware of what they are doing and never let them out of my sight as of course dogs will be dogs and i don't think is possible to stop them being what they are.
But as a dog owners i'm sure you know it's our responsability to control our dogs in public.
A well trained dog has much more freedom to be a dog.
There is only one way to do it and that is with mutual respect love and trust.

what it signifies is people who respect others and the local bylaws and as they are two gsd,s and quite capable of looking after themselves this to me is important even police dogs bite other police officers when exited and they are very highly trained people already have preconceptions i dont want to make it worse.

Whilst walking through town a Golden Lab Guide dog took a lunge at my Boxer, it's a good job the blind chap had someone with him.
Of course i got all the funny looks as i had to keep walking away.
