I didn't realise Prodrive used ECUtek. Does that mean we may already have an Ecutek license ? My warranty is a Subaru one..the standard 12 month warranty offered on a used car purchased at a main dealer.

If this truly is your warranty arrangement (which amazes if this was the case from a main dealer) I wouldn't even worry about it. It's of little to no use imo.

Update: now have remap :)
Just an update: yesterday I had my full custom remap on my standard hawkeye STI Type UK with PPP by Duncan at Race Dynamix and am very pleased with the results. Here's a short review: The car was totally standard other than the PPP and a Hayward and Scott straight through centre section. The car only has one rear cat as the PPP removes the 2nd cat.
The car now pulls like a train from 4k rpm onward and is now much much smoother lower down the revs, incredibly smooth in fact and its a joy just to cruise now (not as frantic). As those with the PPP will know it is very aggressive, and gives you a "shove in back" acceleration low down the revs when the turbo comes on boost about 3k rpm but I assume this is due to the irregular "generic" nature of the PPP and how it is not customised to your car, and it was also very awkward to drive in 1st and 2nd gear slowly (the car would be very "jerky" and I looked an idiot in stop start traffic).
The custom remap has totally resolved this and it is such a dream to drive when you just want to cruise off boost. Due to the drive by wire throttle now opening at 100% (and other variables which have been altered) you get more response lower down from 2500rpm when you put the pedal flat to the floor which is very nice as turbo cars always lack that low down response (I come from a 350z which although not as powerful did have excellent low down torque in any gear).
The only slight thing I miss is the addictive hard "shove in back" acceleration when the turbo kicks in at 2800-3000 rpm. I didnt notice it was really missing until properly test driving it for a few hours yesterday evening (it is still definitely there but just not as hard and my passenger noticed). The power now comes in "more gradually" instead of a big lump. Although I assume this happens with all custom remaps. Is this because the power and torque curve has all been "smoothed" and now much more linear?
It is a very different drive to the PPP - overall it is much much smoother, far better drivability and a lot better car for this. Has anyone else has had their standard PPP'd car remapped? As it is so highly tuned to begin with the difference before and after is never going to be all that noticable which I knew beforehand would be the case, perhaps 10 or 15bhp, so probably about ~330ish bhp after the remap (316bhp is standard for a hawkeye STI PPP), but it so much smoother overall, and importantly checked over and running reliably with no detting etc.
I just need to get myself a 100 cell sports cat downpipe plus a further remap by Duncan, and should hopefully see my car close to the 350bhp/ 350+lbs/ft mark, but importantly give better turbo spool.
Overall I am very pleased with the result. A big thanks to Duncan . I'd strongly recommend anyone who wants a remap to look him up. Thanks again for your time yesterday Duncan.

Was good to meet you Matt ... and your car makes me long for a std(ish) hawkeye again
As you say because the boost is coming in from earlier and in a smoother way (to a new higher level) it doesn't kick in like the std ppp map on there, it makes it much more driveable (IMO) and quicker in the real world. It will be a lot more savage without the cat on there when you make that change though

Do you think a panel filter would require a remap (to prevent it running lean) and is it going to make any power difference without a remap, just on its own? I assume it has to work as "part of a combination" of things, like panel filter plus exhaust/downpipe, and then remap, to really see benefit? Do you know if my plugs would be in good condition at 29k miles? I did have the 30k mile service done by Subaru before they sold it to me but Im not sure if it included a plug change. Is there any other kind of relatively low cost mod I can do prior to a further remap, other than panel filter and downpipe sports cat or decat? Thanks again Duncan

Sounds like you have one hell of a car mate Very tempted to get my downpipe sooner rather than later. Just can't decide whether to go full decat (and put up with changing it once a year) or sports cat like you but pay a bit more for the sports cat.

How much does your local garage charge to take off your decat downpipe and put on your catted downpipe come MOT time, and then put the decat back on after, or how long does it normally take in total? What does your exhaust noise sound like with the full decat and do you get any smells (although Im not really bothered by this, just curious). I am tempted for either.

the garage i use charges 1 hr labour to swap it in and out, works out at £45 quid, no idea if thats expensive but for a once in a year thing i dont mind, there is other ways ( eg find a friendly mot station ) but you would need to ask about your area and from what i hear they gonna dry up somewhat this year due to law changes
For this car ive opted for a full revolution decat , its not fitted untill this friday but iam told its fairly quite, with nice roar when on boost, last car i had was a wrx prior to this sti and the miltek on that was pretty sweet, no smells of note
Right now the only smell i have is of the methanol ive dropped all over the garage floor lol , but i guess that dont apply to a few peeps
