Once again, (think this is the third time) there is no such thing as a 2011 Impreza STi. It is just an STi, no Impreza. Sunken in yet?
The Honda interior clearly brings back fond memories of Captain James T Kirk and co. to you. I'm too young to have been that excited about it, but no I am not in my 20's.
Ha ha, just for fun I have specced the only 2 options that you can on a Honda Civic type R. i.e. metallic paint, and icon plus pack with 19" wheels. Price for this beauty? Just under £26 grand.
Does it have Recaro seats? Erm No
Does it have a 4 wheel drive system? No
Does it have a sporty rear wheel drive system? No, just a cheap FWD system.
Does it have the famous Jap spec LSD? No
Does it have 4/5 doors? No cheaper spec 3
Does it have electric rear windows? No, no moveable windows in the back
Fitted with a tracker? Nope
Xenon headlights? Nope
Seats 5? Nope 4 only
Folding mirros as standard? Nope
Right then down on power, not great spec as standard, must be good on fuel economy? No, 31mpg combined, urban is actually only 22mpg. Emissions 215. Testers say more like 27mpg.
Oh and it has that lovely expensive(NOT!!!) looking fuel cap as standard, and with only a 50 litre tank you will be looking at it quite often

However, I must agree that the petrol cap isn't the finest part of the car .... if that's all you can come up with then it's no wonder that the clever money goes to Honda and not Subaru
The last Type R's - for your information - had the LSD, had the folding mirrors ... no need for AWD, Recaro style seats were fitted, the Type R engine is one of the finest engines ever made (doesn't blow up like the new Impreza STi engines!).
I didn't buy the Type R Civic, as I didn't like it ... the Type S GTT diesel was far superior (turns out that my old Impreza had turned me into a Turbo rush junkie!).
As I said - have a look at the spec. on a Type S GTT and weep ...... the new Impreza STi cannot hope to live in that company.

regardless of your detrimental comments of the subaru and its redeeming features which you are slandering the issue is that you have to post on here for a reaction. It is without a doubt insecurity in your own choice of vehicle albeit not the worst but certainly in terms of performance, leagues different from the superior subaru.
it takes the better person not to go onto a honda forum and slander the weaker and more boring choice, but from personal experience on owning both i would rather pay a larger premium for what is without a doubt a better car.

The Impreza STi falls short of what is required from a £33,450 car - and that's what this is about ...... I am simply saying that Subaru, by offering free Sat.Nav. and 20BHP, will not make a failure into a success.
I really wish that the new Impreza STi was something everyone wanted, something I wanted, something to desire, something which showed how it should be done ..... it isn't

The reality is he is desperately trying to justify to himself that he was right not to buy a Subaru, and right to buy a, er, civic.
The reality is that when faced with trying to justify his "its way too expensive at £33k", he can't. He can't find a better car, with 4wd, with the same performance and spec as an STi, for less money. Go spec a Golf R lewis.
The reality is he trys to justify his civic with "amazing value" and the like. Value is a Kia, or a pre-reg car. Not a outdated diesel that Honda had to flog for whatever they could get for it before they had to bin them.
The reality is he's been banned from civic forums. Just how sad do you need to be for that to happen?

I haven't mentioned the Civic Type R at all ... try looking at the Type S - GTT spec (for £17,600) and come back and apologise.

My point is, IF you want PERFORMANCE, you pay for it.......Simples!!!!
Coming back to Honda Type R vs Type S, the type R with 2 option boxes ticked is a whopping £8,000 more, for essentially 60bhp.
In other words £133 per bhp.
Using that figure, the Sti is 180bhp more than your Type S Diesel.
180 x 133.33 = £24,000
Now take the base price of your Type S at £17,600 + £24,000 = £41,600.
So the STi should actually cost £41,600, so is an absolute bargain at £33,000

I dont understand the point you are making, you keep going on about 0-60 times being irrelelvant and meaning "Jack", this is scoobynet mate, have a look about, almost all cars on here have a tweek of some sort none of which will be for economy. So BHP, 0-60, Torque etc are all relevent maybe not to you or to other Honda Lovers but it is to most of us. You mention that most men have moved on from their teen attitudes to cars etc, not me mate! I will always try to maintain that youthfull attitude and not just with cars, so you can ram your old attitude, fuel economy and sensibilites etc.
I will defend subaru becuase its always done what ive wanted from it, just like some of the other cars from other manufacturers that ive owned with no bias or predjudice. The bleak picture you paint of the new hatch is "yawn" now, get over it.
Your Honda sounds amazing I totally wish Id never paid the bazziliions more than the honda leaf with its ferret fart powered economy its expensive interior that as nice as the inside of a woman and dont forget that torso splitting torque, they are so awesome. In fact im so moronic im away to join the Honda Vulva owners club and then post up all the issues people have had with them and then compare them to the new Tata Nano...

I did all the research I needed to do, last year when replacing the Scooby. I know what's out there, what offers value for money, what's fast, what's not, what is stupidly expensive for what you get and what is being shunned by the car buying public.

I had the same problem needed to replace my WRX hatch no subaru available that was affordable as a new car so went for the Renault Meganesport 250 cup (What car's hot hatch of the year) with a few extras(monitor, dual zone aircon , electrochrome mirror Xenon headlights blue tooth). It is more powerful has similar performance(0-60), no 4wd but a LSD, good standard seats and finish and the renault monitor lets you alter the throttle mappings (extreme mode will put a smile on your face) though not everyone will like the firm ride. 24K but the finance and cost of ownership means it will be cheaper to own than my old WRX yet is just as exciting. It will be interesting to see if there will be a similar priced subaru around to tempt me back in a few years!
