I cannot see anywhere which shows me how old your STi is, let's assume it is a 2010 model. When your car is 5 years old there is every chance that the annual car tax will be £675, fuel at £2 a litre, Insurance difficult to get. Your £33,450 car will be worth ..... well, worthless, really. And that's not good value for money in my book.

That's all we are discussing - is the STi Impreza worth £33,450? I have heard absolutely nothing to convince me that it is .... IMO it would struggle to be worth £19,999 in todays world.
Mr Lewis ......eeermmm change the vinyl buddy

Watching that video the R8 pulls away on the straights and stay fairly composed, that Type R is all over the road trying to keep up! Get a Litchfield sorted STi up against that Civic Type-TooExpensive and then lets see the result

Never mind which car is fastest, blah, blah, R8, STI, Civic, there is no way you can compare an R8 (or any 911, Ferrari) with hot hatches/rally repmobiles for knicker snapping ability.

For that alone, it's why they exist for many mid-life crisis. No amount of zero road tax / 50+ mpg / cheap insurance is going to make up for that.

This is true - if you happen to be a middle aged fat baldy!!

Some of us old classics could emerge from a dustbin on wheels and still get the elastic stapping!

So the rare Civic against a basic Impreza, oh that a good comparison!

So back at you.

OK, point taken

Let's make it very fair:-

This:-

http://blog.niot.net/blog-images/sub...till-not-c.jpg

Or This:-

http://images.pictureshunt.com/pics/...civic-6296.jpg

Of course, looks do not tell of the hidden horrors of cheap, tacky, plastics in the STi and the modern, quiet, well built, Honda.

Even, just on looks alone - the Subaru cannot manage a win.

..but I'd also like a newer model, much like your civic; so I don't have to make do with enough knicker elastic to power a siege catapult.

Best get that 50k out for a good condition 911 :-)

I think the Honda will appeal more to the younger generation than the more sedate Subaru, I've no doubt that the Honda will be a track weapon, however as a daily drive the Subaru would win hands down, and to be fair would probably win on a track too.

Its funny really, I was looking at new cars recently to replace the hatch and I was prepared to spend circa 30k on a Spec C STI as thought was ok value, but on the same site they had a Mugan Honda and I personally felt it was overpriced, two people looking at similar cars and with complete oposite opionions.

Thing with me I'm a new age Subarau fan, appreciate the classics but never wanted one.

The manufacturers have RRP. Nobody in there right mind pays the RRP due to the special offers, discounts etc offered by the dealers. The main reason cars are becoming more expensive in the UK is due to the exchange rate.

You say an Impreza STi is dear. The last compnay car i had was an Insignia VXR NAV with 20" ALLOYS RRP on that car was £35480

The joys of buying cars!

You need to ensure "IMO" is inserted after all your posts, because IMO the Subaru DOES win hands down. Oh and it's cheaper

Anyone know how to start a poll:

Taking into considerstaion looks, performance, mpg, interior quality, style, cost etc would you choose the STI over to a Honda Civic Type 's' if you had the choice?

2008 onwards Impreza STI

Honda Civic Type 's'

If someone can start lets see what the community think?

Wrong poll, I'm afraid ..... the Honda Civic sneaked into this thread via those wanting to wind me up!

The question is simple .....

Is the new Impreza STi worth £33,450? YES or NO ... that is the question.

Yesterday went to Autobahn88 meet at Ace cafe London in my m8s company car 1.4 civic type s???He works for Honda, is a honda freak, owns a 2.0/1.6 vti conversion 99 coupe since new, pushing healthy 200bhp. We were talking about diesel engines and ive mentioned this thread to him and what someone on here is comparing like to like. Mr Lewis diesel civic against Sti . He just started laughing and said that the bloke (lewis) has problems life crisis or smtn. Another thing he mentioned is that soon all honda's will be hybrid, the future . As recent customers age is much more mature , no more type r's, he said hes selling about 10-12 cars a month and the age of the customers is above 40. I had a good look at the plastics and all other panels as Pete made me imagine his civic is hand built...NOT. The dashbord plastics were better, but everything else i just cant understand what so much better is than in a scoob??? Same cheap 'pen' plastic. Just less tacky more slick and not jumping into your face, but!! The concept of the dashboard is a bit too much for me, but thats just my taste. I prefer scoob 1. Other than that , the ride was crap, 2 hard , 2 noisy, the suspension wasnt abzoarbing the bumps, potholes properly , car was bouncy a bit. Yes u can say scoob is hard as well but that has been made fo a purpouse, what purpouse is in a 1.4 civic i don't know. He did mentioned that people were buying diesel civics even instead of a type r after the test driving both, as a diesel was much more alive at low revs. But that what its been made for as a road car.The power stops at 4k rpm thought and than u going backwards as in the scoob u'll be flying. So Mr Lewis , to tell you the trueth they are both very different cars, made for different things cant tell they differ alot quality wise. If you think 33k is 2 much someone might think not, and their are not mad , its just their opinion . And for myself i would probably pay if i could 33k but not for uk spec, that would be JDM spec c

Oh , and comparison for you ....

I wasnt spending time trying to convince you of anything, I was putting up links and videos to demostrate to others on here that your waffle needed straighting out. Ive Addressed the price issue, ive address your German name dropping and ive addressed your faux pas on the motorsport comment.

Oh and just to avoid further confusion I was calling Lewis the Nugget becuase he kept on about his issue was with price and not useless bhp claims and that his post had nothing to do with Honda and then he posts up his R8 video clip with 'Watch and weep...' at the bottom.
I remember watching the 1.6 Toyota A86 Hachiroku Vs a 2.6TT R34 GTR on the Tougue in Japan: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQdHL...eature=related this also demonstrates the pointless point you Lewis were trying to make. Which is, to put a near supercar up against a Hot hatch which will weigh half the weight and also have shorter gearing as the super car is more like a Grand tourer and then put them down a tight twisty road where the adverage speed will be 60-80 because of all the corners, wow I was truly enlightened when your video highlighted this point. (im being sarastic seeing as you missed my sarcasim earlier)

I mean, why not do the same with a Veyron because it makes no difference. Seeing as we are off the original topic, have this as a parting gift ya CRANK: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLXdB...eature=related

Your over............

We all now its worth, its just i like a little banter Its not the fist thread of Mr Lewis bashing impreza. I think its just the age, needs of a car that does it. You see, he had never had a proper impreza , had uk spec which , sorry guys , but in a standart form its pants. he probably had never experienced a track day in well specd scoob as well. So all these uprated parts etc is even not bothering him as hes not into motorsport. Thats why he chose a diesel. IMO i would get a diesel and probably im getting one soon , because of my needs, family , comfort etc. For fun days i'm keeping my classic...

Plastikman was this adresses to me??
