Mine comes back like new, to be fair, but so does my MD's and he hands over £80 to an independent in High Wycombe. Perhaps the latter simply give it a polish rather than open it like the Swiss claim they do. It's the not knowing that bugs me.

I suppose it boils down to peace of mind.... it's not saying that Rolex do a better job than Yozza would've but you know that it'll be done to the correct tolerances and backed up with the manufacturers guarantee

That's unfair, DD. I've not read a single post ("thinly veiled" or otherwise) by TDW that challenges someone based upon the colour of their skin. Thoughts? Yes. Beliefs? Yes. But, not genetics. The guy might pîss you off owing to his combative posting style, but you will not be able to quote a solitary post that's definitively or even implicitly racist. No beef with you, by the way, you seem like a good chap, but this "racist" thing is a cheap shot.

TDW is socially conservative and patriotic, in my judgement. He challenges belief structures but, he's never criticised someone based upon the colour their skin. I challenge you, too, to quote just one post that even hints at racism. If you do, I'll concede.

Well it sounds like its a problem with the bit that should keep it going when you take it off. Maybe there is a spring which has gone weak or even broken so that it has a lower capacity than normal.

Must be worth getting a competent watchmaker to at least check it and tell you what is wrong.

Mr P owns a couple of TAG's. Recently some of the paint inside the fingers has corroded and cracked, it's now resting inside the watch! (It's vintage so yes, it was literally a slick of paint inside the finger back then).

Anyway, this job is probably only small, cost of a new set of matching fingers £30-£40 plus the labour. BUT... the movement of the watch cannot be guarenteed afterwards without a service, so basically let's stick another zero on the end of the original price, and that's closer to what it's going to cost!

I think watchfinder is the best place for good honest advice. And as much as it's a pain to pay the servicing cost it's got to be done.

I could also find a couple of homophobic ones as well if you like JTaylor.

And there was that classic whole thread that had TDW state that a brown faced taxi driver had over charged him at the airport. His conclusion? He would no longer ever get in a taxi if the driver was Pakistani. He didn't even know for sure that the driver was Pakistani, just that he had a brown face ffs.

Now if that isn't judging a whole community by the colour of their skin I don't know what is.

I do take your point though, the term 'racist' can be abused and targeted at anyone who questions immigration policy or multi culturism. I personally hate people who do that, we should be able to question these things and act on them without being called racists.

I myself have huge issues with the level of immigration to this country but would like to think that I'm not a racist.

"JTaylor, lending his ill informed support to racists since 2005"

Great defense, really well done. Starts with a COMPLETE lack of understanding of the word "Veiled", and ends with being proven completely wrong shortly after.

Good work there Hodgy, loved that.

I don't need to justify anything. Let the accuser prove I am a racist. A few quotes of a racial tone do not necessarily = racism.
