Life is what YOU make it, no one is going to help you make friends, get a boyfriend, get a better job etc. it's all up to you. Sorry if that sound unsympathetic, but that's the way it is. I have so many people I know that are waiting for things to happen, not prepared to take a chance and are ending up at nearly 40 with nothing.
Get on a dating site, have your wits about you and you might find someone. Go to car shows, track days etc. go on a singles holiday! What have you got to lose?

I am the happiest I've ever been. Great husband, nice house, car, couple of nice push bikes, job I enjoy and a daughter who is lovely, if a bit frustrating at times, couple of holidays a year, and things will only be getting better! 11 years ago, this was not the case. It had to be ME who did something and I did. Left a relationship that was going nowhere with a toddler. I made mistakes, but I also make good decisions and I am where I am now.
At 22 I went off to Uni and that was a life-changing decision. Yes, it was hugely frightening, but things were going nowhere at home, so I had to do something. I was very much in your position Helen, but I did something and it paid off.

Totally understand whats your saying ... think I been wrapped in cotton wool alittle to long and making these leeps alone are gonna be hard as hell and damm right scary!!
Guess deep down im worried to take the first steps etc and want someone who's done the leeps to show me how good things really are ....
Why is it when you grow up people change etc as all I get from so called friends now is im to grown up for my age and my intrests have changed etc ... making me feel im the wrong one
Maybe I should be chasing the boys, drive a mini and make shopping and beauty my life then I would fit more into the group... but that aint me .... im a adrenaline chick really
Sod everyone else .. im gonna do what I wanna do!

Fitting in ain't all it's cracked up to be. I am a bit of a tomboy, which is how I ended up doing laps of the Ring and owning a MX bike in my time. If you find a bloke who is happy to do things with you, that's great. I am always a bit suspicious of bloke who do lots of boys nights out etc.

What exactly do people do at 'meets'? I have visions of men in subaru branded rain coats huddled around a mint condish classic admiring the new hozes on the FMIC, and talking about the good ol days when 6.5 seconds to 60 was considered fast.

On a more serious note, it's a good place to trade, take some pics, talk tech and ask for some advice. Plus the banter is usally entertaining.

I totally agree, it may be a harsh thing to say, and hard to hear but it's true.
At 22 I was pregnant, working full time with a 40 min commute (or three busses) and paying a mortage.
Life wasn't exactly a barrel of laughs, but I sure as heck made it fun!
Like has been said, nobody can make friends for you, you have to make friends.
I left home when I was 18 and moved fro north Wales to the midlands, I didn't know a soul, but I didn't waste any time feeling sorry for myself, I enrolled on a short course for community health or something like that, and made loads of friends, and over time this know my home. All my friends are here.
In your situation Helen... Where are your friends? Do you not live in your home town, or anywhere close?
What has happened that you are so closed off from everyone?
