This is what perrin say about BOV's

For clients that demand idle quality, and the best in drivability we offer a fully recirculated BOV. Like the stock BOV, the PERRIN recirc BOV keeps the vented air in the intake system to keep the ECU happy and running smooth. BOVs that vent to atmosphere can run rich between shifts causing backfires, can cause idle issues, and part throttle drivability on cars that have MAF sensors. This is due to metered air,the ECU thinks is being ingested by the engine, being expelled to the atmosphere. Popular cars with MAF sensors, are all Subaru WRX, STI,Legacy GT, Forester

Didn't rally cars run BOV's until noise restrictions killed them off? Tbh I love the sound with a passion and the fact I'm not continously recirculating hot and dangerous air. My BOV is cool though because I can set it to recirc if the fashion Police catch me!

I'm not sure if it's my BOV but my car engine is on it's way out due to running lean. Even though a spark plug tip was partly broke Tuners examining it think it was a bad map or faulty ECU wiring. If any expert could prove that bov's can cause bore washing I'd ditch mine.

Had apparently, I still think UK tuners have a lot to learn when tuning/examining Evo's and Scoobs.

Just done some research on my GFB BOV and I can adjust the spring tension so the BOV only vents on higher boost stopping would be idle lean issues.

I may have asked this before, but don't FMIC need dv's?

Or do most people use re-circs?

Did it ever occur to you that the people on here with 20000 posts may just have gained those posting about Subarus and hence may just have a wealth of knowledge that if you weren't so prepared not to listen to you may actually gain something from?

I don't use a dump valve, re-circ valve or a maf. The chattering noise I get is a million times nicer than the boring 'psssssttttt' a dump valve gives.

Chris, leave it, any advice is obviously lost on folk who only hear what they want to.

Once upon a time on here members would have been ashamed to ask about BOV's As for text speak...

what if there was a guide on how to own an impreza.

Thou shalt worship your car
Thou shalt stick 99 octane fuel in it.
Thou shalt floor it through tunnels.
Thou shalt pannick at the slightest little cough or unexpected splutter from your car.

Thou shalt fit a scooby doo air freshner
(proven to add 10% across the rev range)

Thou shalt pour over the search facility before posting anything ont scoobynet.
Thou shalt acknowledge other impreza driver (including sports)
Thou shalt stick as loud an exhaust as you want on the car (however dont let it idle on the early shift just drive off slowwwwwwww)

Thou shalt fit whatever the hell you like without taking advice but dont be suprised if i goes pop

Most of all drive it an love it an that to anyone who disapproves

TBH mine both chatters and psssts when I let off the throttle even when the spring is set at the lowest tension. Chatter always comes fractionally quicker.

Well it would be nice to be able to read and understand a post without having to keep referring to the Urban Dictionary.

Without reading all this post, I would suggest to the OP to keep the OEM Dump Valve. However depending on your spec and if your after some Rally style noise, try going Dump Valve Delete, I think you'll find this makes a more interesting noise, not Quite the same standard as "Im a C@cl out of the window" noise, but never the less "A great Noise" lol

It was a forum for car enthusiasts yes! There was a time when we all enjoyed talking about our cars and how to make them go faster and handle better.

Nowadays there are not many of us left, the forum has been taken over by the text speaking McDonalds car park generation... the sort of people who lower their cars to an inch ride height and then moan when their ridiculously stupid splitter gets ripped off on a kerb, the sort of people who put neons under their car, the sort of people who want a flamer kit, the sort of people who put uber wide wrong offset wheels on their Scoob and wonder why they rub the arches, the sort of people who wear their baseball cap sideways and indeed the sort of people who want a VTA dump valve so their car goes Whoosh every time they change gear.
