I noticed he said kerb and not silly speed bump, one of the millions that don't stetch the entire width of the street. One of those you stop safely staring up the street to align your wheels over. Chuffing government.

Going back to my "rich" issues (I meant Rich not lean previously lol, I also don't know left from right) does anyone seriously know which causes the worst rich issue when shifting, VTA or Dump valve delete?

[quote=f1_fan;10016504]It was a forum for car enthusiasts yes! There was a time when we all enjoyed talking about our cars and how to make them go faster and handle better.

Nowadays there are not many of us left, the forum has been taken over by the text speaking McDonalds car park generation... the sort of people who lower their cars to an inch ride height and then moan when their ridiculously stupid splitter gets ripped off on a kerb, the sort of people who put neons under their car, the sort of people who want a flamer kit, the sort of people who put uber wide wrong offset wheels on their Scoob and wonder why they rub the arches, the sort of people who wear their baseball cap sideways and indeed the sort of people who want a VTA dump valve so their car goes Whoosh every time they change gear.

[/quo the type of people that arnt scared of being different ? stepping outside the box and doing wot the hell they want to their cars !! we are the ones paying for it ! who r u to lable me " one of the mcdonalds car park lot " anyway ?? i bet i have more enthusiasm about cars than u can ever imagine !! its a dump valve , get over it loser

went to watch the bdc last weekend and some of the nissans had some different sounding dump valves, but obviously they arent runing scooby engines, could be worth finding out what they use?

If I remember right I'm sure I was told the vta will lead to running richer as you are dumping all boost, dv delete will still have some boost in the intake when you come back on throttle.

I used to run a vta with my fmic, tried dv delete and ran a lot better, just changed to a greddy recirc, doesnt sound as good but far better on gear changes etc. Spools quicker and no juddering.

Aye, becuase the VTA is dumping the air intended for the fuel, hense where the bore wash comes from. Spoken to Alcazar on here about it in great detail as he's running 400+ in a classic with a FMIC so knows his beans as it were.

I had a Baileys BOV on my last Impreza years ago and it ran like a bag of ****. Spring gave way so replaced it with a Forge item. Excellent quality over the Baileys crap and no ghey Whooooosh or crappy idle.

Just out of interest can anyone show me or tell me of an engine that failed due to a dump valve? Would be interesting as I always read the same old haters replies but never see any proof, The fact that there are plenty of people running round with them who have been for years seems to get overlooked or more likely just ignored!

LOL... the old fit a VTA and your engine will need to be replaced. For all the people that say this can you name any cars where a VTA dump valve has been proven to have killed the engine? I know of none but have known lots of people run VTAs for years trouble free, can VTAs really be that bad?

From my experience the richness experienced on lift off with a VTA DV on a MAF equipped car is not significant enough to cause much of an issue. Back in the day (maybe 8 years ago) i decided to buy a Link Ecu and map my own car. As this ecu is MAP based i also decided to fit a forge VTA DV (i was young at the time ), however i then went on to the Apexi Ecu which is MAF based. At the time i had a wideband o2 sensor/controller (Techedge) that i could log with so decided to keep the VTA on and do some logging over a few days then switch back to recirc and log again and compare... the difference in AFR during the lift off 'bore wash' moments was minimal at best. I concluded for *my* car the VTA would not kill the engine.

Since then i have had 3 more Imprezas, all have remained with OEM recirc DVs... however thats more because i've been getting old. If you want a VTA go for it, if people hate them don't fit them. Each to their own.... but if you do fit one i'm pretty sure in a years time you won't have spent £2k on a new engine.

Tbh i dont care if people fit them or not and its probably one of the least reasons for engine failure on here. But it doesnt half make good reading initialD great work

There must be thousands of subaru's using dump valves in the country, if it really caused that much of an issue there would be very few imprezas left. I think it's probably more that somebody's mates brothers sisters friend had a impreza that sh*t itself, they were using a dump valve and it got blamed for the problem.
It's the same as the old 'don't use 10/40 oil it will make your car blow up', yea but it won't will it.
Buddy, buy the bov you want, fit it and enjoy the car. It's your car so do as you like. You don't need to explain it to anybody. Just remember not everybody shares your views on certain things.

Ive got a 500+ impreza with a lot of work done myself... Does this mean that i know more lol

Ran a RA with 450+ with a VTA for 3 years on track and drag without any problems... Im sure JGM when mapping would have said the fuelling is rich as you have a VTA
