Proper LOL.

Quite stunned you didn't notice. You really didn't notice? ROFLOL

I doubt you will get very far, it's too late and to them you're probably trying it on. It would beg the question, what happened when they put the Plasma TV into the LCD box - why wasn't that notice? You would argue that someone in the store must remember finding the wrong TV for the box and vice versa - unless that wasn't noticed either.

I'd go down there and speak to the manager. Failing that customer complaints and failing that chain yourself to the railings outside until they give in - or commit you

Couldn't you just buy a 2" TV and stand it next to the 40" one?

Is the TV they boxed up for you the same one you viewed instore?

Are you assuming that the TV was infact 42' and a Plasma because the box said so or because that's what you actually wanted?
I viewed the TV which was high up on the shelf advertised as a 42" Plasma.

Lol. I know man. Its got a hilarious side to it.

Abit annoyed really as you would not expect this to happen. Its not really about the money or anything but more importantly about principle. If i went Sainbury's to shop and i was 1p short hell no would they let me off!

i have to deal with examples of stupidity like this every day.

You didnt notice for a year, and now you expect them to relpace it?

you would instantly be labelled as a muppet who is trying it on, after the staff member who took the phone call picked them selves up off the floor!

if i was branch manager and it landed on my desk i too would tell you to do one.

can you not see how this could be seen a your typical chancer who just wants a new tv and has a reciept off a mate or something, i mean a year FFS, how stupid can you get, you wouldnt even have known if it wasnt for a mate.

sounds to me like you shouldnt be let loose on your own with a credit card, where was you carer while all this was happening?

didnt notice for a year and now ants a new telly, thats a classic

Are you thick or something. Its not about me realising after a year or ten years. Its about them making a mistake! The reciept has my card number on it.

Good your not the branch manager or that 40" screen would have landed on your head.

I am asking for advice not for rudeness! If you dont have anything positive to say then please make way.

I have spoken to a mate who works for an advice bureau and he mentions i have a win here.

Thanks for all the positive feedback peeps.

In his defence, you also likely be the same branch manager who was informed by a staff member about a year ago, that a recently purchased 42" Plasma won't fit in it's box.

Unless as I said earlier, the exact same thing happened BUT completely the opposite AND they didn't notice either - or kept quiet when the customer got home and found a 42" Plasma where their recently purchased 40" LCD should be

I honestly don't believe that no one at that Sainsburys knows what happened - whether they chose to pipe up is another matter.

Also, Aladdin, don't get too upset by the comments - you're bound to get a bit of a rinsing for this. Laugh it off mate

Not upset at all but annoyed that one cant have a decent convo without people being rude. The humour side of it is good & i myself found it funny but I am not going to let Sainbury's get away lightly.

If it was not for mate who knows this thread would have waited another few years before it got started

Personally, having had my mistake pointed out to me I would have made light of it, enjoyed the 40 inch LCD for what it is and never spoken of it again, posting it on here a year after the fact would be my last port of call, I think you can see why

Sainsbury's made a mistake and you didnt notice for a year, the tv was obviously ok, I would just put it down to experience.
