Nah mate , I really do feel for folk when they get scammed
But I'm not really into all this weight saving lark
Unless like he says it's for using on the track , but then you can save a hell
Of a lot more than a boot lid if you set your mind to it and it will cost nowt
As for aluminium boot , there's a guy on ra forum selling his car who also says it has a ally boot
I would never dismiss any odd things like rare panels or parts fitted to any vehicles
I knew a guy that had a double sided swing arm on his ducati that should have had a single , he posted it on a forum and was told he was talking ****e
But as it happened it was a prototype that had made it's way from ducati factory
So see you never know

I'm sorry, but that's not exactly what you call being ripped off.
You paid average money, for a part that isn't supposed to exist anyway, and you've still got it.
To me, being ripped off is when they take your money and item, or even when you end up with a completely non functional item, which in this case you haven't.

I paid for an item that was described as an alloy boot, but in fact a magnet stuck to it so in my eyes the item was not as described ,don't want to go into you should have done this and you should have done that, but if i sold something that someone wasnt happy with i would answer the phone like any descent man would and offer a refund not answer the phone or texts i have sent asking for my money back.
As to your other comment they "dont exist" i assure you my friend they do as a mate had one on his RA a few years ago.

There was no production facility at FHI to make Aluminium/ Dural boot lids so there was no OEM "alloy" item...... Plenty Carbon / GRP items from other suppliers though...Seibon, MRO Etc.

Simple solution post a pic of a ally boot
And as for no production facility , that means nothing at all
Many manufacturers don't have the facility for a lot of parts they fit
A lot just sub em out and just fit them
Like I said people are so quick to dismiss odd ball parts
But it is often the case a handfull of rare bits and bobs do appear

Dude, as already has been stated the only ally body panel that an impreza had was the bonnet.
Do you not think that with all the Type RA's/Type R's/Sti's/WRX's that have been broken for spares on this board over the years atleast one would of had the illusive ally boot if its exisited?

Concur that only the bonnets of some were aluminium. No other body panels of a classic were aluminium, ever. Rear arches would have been nice!
Cant see how a picture of an alloy boot would be evidence
How would you tell the difference without weighing it, or doing the magnet test?

wrc spares , i asked can you get an ally boot for a gc8 ,the reply was no
i asked did they ever make them
reply , prodrive made them for there cars , they are like rocking horse
i would also bet other companys have also made them back in the day
so to sum up yes ally boot lids do exist and have been made
but you would be very very lucky to have one
but like i said in my earlier post never rule anything out
