uk turbo upgrade cost?

Back to topic,
In all honesty fella your starting with the wrong car. You'd be far better off selling your UK car and buying a JDM STI. For what your gonna spend on your car you could add that to whatever you get for your UK car and get a nice STI. Much better base for modding.
And insurance wise, yes a STI is more than a UK car but would probably be a similar price as a modded UK car. You would have to tell the insurance company you have modified your car remember.

So you guys all bought your Imprezas to go fast in a straight line. A car that is renowned for it's handling capabilities.... Lol.
Sorry guys but I can't see the fascination with that, many cars can go like stink between the roundabouts but only some can go like stink around them. And to be scared of binning it, even bigger lol. These cars are made to be driven in anger once in a while, it's what the Impreza is all about.

Back to the handling thing - 106 GTi's and Lotus Elises make Imprezas look daft in the handling stakes

Dude are you for real.....???
106 GTI out handle an Impreza, whatever world are you living in. Admittedly the Elise is superior than a standard Impreza but bring an Elise up against my car and you'd be in for a massive shock. I'm yet to drive another car that handles like my current car ( and I've driven a fair few cars buddy).
A standard Subaru is good through the twists (if you can drive and have the ***** that is buddy), far better than say focus st, astra vxr, golf gti (all of which have similar power) but a well set up one really takes some beating.
And to say that we shouldn't have a liecence if we drive fast through the bends is utterly ridiculous. For instance, there is a section of road near me where the speed limit is 60mph. I have yet to hit 60 through there my friend.

I would advise listening to the guys suggesting sorting brakes/handling out first. I have a 99 uk turbo and have bought 8 pot k sports, 2 pot wrx rears, 17" wheels, p1 springs, whiteline rear arb + poly bushes - these have made the car so much better to drive that I'm not bothered about straight line speed. I have a VF35 lying around that I bought 6 months ago and I've decided not to fit it and just remap with what I already have. I've fitted a sportscat + hks catback system (and a panel filter) and it's being remapped by bob rawle next tuesday. I'm hoping for approx 260bhp which IMO is plenty. With the handling/braking being so much better than when it was stock I don't feel like I'm missing out without running big power. Total cost of my mods will be around £3000 for what I believe is now a much better drivers' car, you could spend money on a new turbo/clutch/injectors/intercooler/remap which could cost £2k+ with labour costs and then blow the engine/gearbox quickly and end up with a huge rebuild bill. IMO improve the braking/handling + remap with the td04 or sell it and buy an sti!

Seriously - if you pushed an Impreza to it's limit's on a 60mph road it is likely that in many places speeds of well over 100mph could be touched and with the sort of power some Impreza's run, pushing towards 150 is not out of this world. I'm not saying for one minute that anyone here does those sorts of speed - i'm simply saying that if you are prepared to push those limits then you shouldn't have a licence. There is a huge difference driving swiftly through the twisties and pushing to the limits of the grip of a Scoob
Anyway **** all this - i'm stuck in a soot chucking Mondeo at the moment - get your Impreza round to mine and take me for a spin - i've almost forgotten what a sub 9 second 0-60 feels like

I can see both points of the argument though ,because when i increased the power of my 99 uk turbo from 215 to 317 bhp,it was savage. i never got round to sorting the suspension or the brakes out ,and maybe if i did it might have saved me when my rear tyre blew, out writing the car off .
2 weeks later when i bought my MY 2000 uk turbo, before i bolted all the stuff from my old car on the 1st thing i bought was some tar ox GC8 grooved discs and some mintex 1155 pads. This improved the stopping dramatically,i then went on to having the car remapped again and it is now putting out 330bhp.The original suspension was no match for this so prodrive bilsteins were fitted (£150) all around & prodrive geometry settings applied .I now have a car with 50% more bhp than std, and a car which understeers less at the limit and is much more nicer to drive especially on the twistys without the backend constantly trying to get away from you.
With out the suspension mods my car has cost me less than a grand ,thanks to a group buy for the remap which cost £440.00 and all the other components were 2nd hand ,but top quality ie:VF28, vortex, samco,H&S,sti, walbro, etc, and the difference now is like night & day.
The power is nice ,but it is nothing without control imho
