escort cossie VS scooby which is better car

It IS just as easy to do a Scooby, but you have to have the right model (closed deck block) as a starting point and the right bits in (Cosworth pistons and connecting rods - how ironic is that!). Also the standard ECU is as much use as a chocolate fire guard and needs to be scrapped and replaced with MoTec or Pectel (or other such fully mappable ECU) and the engine live mapped on a dyno with the correct spec turbo, injectors, cams and head work. It is not a matter of bolting on things and praying, but carefully chosing matched items. Just look what CraigH achieved with his, and if ONLY he had stuck with it, got a proper ECU and had it all done on an engine dyno, that car would have been one of the best "all rounders" in the country. Even when it was running like a bag of poo it was the best Scooby around, just think how could it could have been if he had stuck with it and ironed out all the problems.
The trouble is, most of you have been brainwashed by poxy magazines who perpetuate the myth of bolt on power (it is only advertising driven though and I can't see how so-called intelligent people fall for it all!). EVERYTHING has an on-cost and affects everything else, hence why it has to be done as a complete package.
Lots of Scooby owners have found this out to their cost already, as the standard engine is marginal and has only been designed for a 20% power hike, any more than this and they start to get unreliable - veritable time bombs..... Tick, tick, tick - BOOOOOOM
Be careful and have fun modifying.
Best regards
Mike R

Mike,
During my last few months with the car I was running a GEMS fully mappable ECU - only reason it never got mapped correctly was due to the fuel regulator being shagged, then after me getting it sorted I knew I was selling anyway so there was no point getting it refined.
Shame though, cos it would've been good

I thought my car was capable of 170mph??!!!
So when are you going to go for a T6 then??? I believe somebody else may be going that way soon.
Regards,
Shaun.

But Mike,
If you set it wrong you can actually make it appear you are going faster than you are, doesn't it.....
Shame the white ones only go up to 8k revs -they look sooooo much nicer than the black - still, 13k limit is quite cool

Craig,
I could just change it to km/h for that and have it show 262!
White matches the car, I have gone for the "Changing Rooms" colour co-ordinated look . Having a gay-boy 4x4 car does strange things to your tastes as well. I have recently purchaased a loverly pink shirt (from Shaun) as well....
Its only a "baby" engine!

Craig,
I told you, buying a girly car has other strange effects, gayboy wheels included - I've also started growing breasts.. Mind you, I now look better in stockings and suspenders (again borrowed off Shaun... )
Rob,
As I explained in court, that was a ONE off occurrance and I served my time and anyway, I was only asking her for the time.... Ooooh, you mean the club night, oops, yes we do...

Adam,
But it is so boring that last night I nearly fell alseep at the wheel... You have obviously never been near a car with 400bhp per tone and rwd or you wouldn't be saying that... It was the ultimate street sleeper to really p i s s off Supercar onwers and bikes with.
LOL

actually mike I have been near cars of that description, such as yours.
I remember being quite close to it, taking photos of it from another car when it was on the back of a tow truck on the way home from donington!
the number of driven wheels doesnt change the pwr. You can still do the same thing to supercars (and bikes??????) with 4wd, its just you can do it in the wet too and without dying (hopefully).
btw. nice comments about the impreza engine and good to hear that someone does believe it can make the power if you do the right things to it.

You nearly fell asleep at the wheel?
Well that's reassuring, considering we had the window open, and a 420 brake saff about two feet away.
That only strengthens my theory that you should share the drive with me, Charlie and Neil tomorrow!

Have you suddenly realised how to drive then.....perhaps you should stop putting 95 octane in!!!
Regards,
Shaun.

When did you get the girlie car? Thought you'd been a bit quiet recently - in for the op were you?
Other question - what happened to the man's car? Did it finally go into meltdown & spend more time off the road than on (which it usually did anyway ) or what is the story?
I remember a fine trip "for petrol" ( ) in the beastie that involved scary the bejesus out of a Honda CBR when you waltzed past him as he gave it max That & "oh - I forgot to adjust the suspension" after a few warm up ( ) laps sideways round Donno in the fog blasting all the scoobs in sight...
Or did you change it 'cos I went past you in the rain @ Snetters last November
