A Victorian cyclist got arrested for "riding furiously"

And I think it's a law that's still in force. What parameters define it though, not sure...

Well I hardly ever see bikers behaving in the way you describe. There probably are some like that, we see the same sort of thing in cars sometimes too! As I said in my previous post, clowns like that usually wind up being commemorated with bunches of flowers tied to a tree!

Your point about wishing for a remote device for opening your passenger door, doubtless in a deliberate attempt to cause a biker to crash, demonstrates to us all how your mind works, and that is nothing to write home about!

It`s not difficult at all. If I`m in the outside lane of a motorway and stationary or stopped and one undertakes me, they are also overtaking traffic in the middle lane...hence overtaking and undertaking at the same time Not all are like that, I agree, but the majority I encounter are.

Oh and I never get overtaken

Hi SiPie,

Agreed that the guy in this video was a kamikaze nutter!

I commute by roadbike into Edinburgh a couple of days a week and reckon the standard of riding is generally ok up'ere. I push hard but follow the road rules. Maybe I'm on the sensible route!

What kind of stuff are you seeing?

The standards round London and anywhere inside the M25 is generally appalling - it annoys me as I've been cycling for years and I hate getting tarred with the same brush. I nearly got knocked over twice today by cyclists as I ran into work along the footpath

I understand what you mean but the way you wrote it did look a bit strange at first. You could have said they were riding between the cars which were stuck in traffic. There is nothing wrong in doing that on a bike if there is sufficient room. Why should the bikers be forced to stop if it is safe for them to pass the stopped traffic that you mention?

Your final sentence tells us all we need to know anyway!

Yeah using the footpath - especially if busy with pedestrians is a no no.

I wouldn't call these people cyclist though, more like idiots with bikes.

I would be sorely tempted to shoulder someone riding on the footpath back off it as long as the road was clear.

More just red light running and idiots cycling up the insides of lorries and buses

Always much worse in the summer. The all year cyclists tend to be a bit better behaved

I'm one of the latter - although I'm a woos when it comes to snow and ice. Pass parked buses on the outside or not at all - sometimes I just wait for them rather than play tag!
