It comes across to me that the majority of those sticking up for the o.p. are both relative newbies who cant spell nor use the english language. It says an awful lot about thetype of person buying the Subaru marque now - ie brainless illiterate fecktards in an increasing majority ![Frown](images/smilies/frown.gif)

Great thread, with all human life represented!
Being human is what it's all about. Being naturally testosterone filled, (unlike Robbie Williams) we're ruled by our hormones most of the time, and it takes maturity to recognise that some actions are just instinctive, and in the light of day, plain stupid.
For example, why is it that we drivers tend to get worked up by the actions of a total stranger in another car? Chances are you'll never meet him again, just let him have his fun and just back off. I appreciate that being competitive, it's hard to do sometimes.
I find a cheery wave does for most things, and never, ever, use the horn. Going back decades ago, I once beeped by accident, leaning on the horn ring of an ancient van. I then glanced up from my slumber at the traffic lights to find Man Mountain Montana stood over me, and he wasn't a happy bunny, only reluctantly accepting my explanation without actually pulling my head off.
For me, being in company with friends enjoying fast cars is cool. Don't "race" strangers, as they don't give a damn about you, and may even want to see you dead.
As a personal pleasure, even at my age, I still get off on driving a really fast car just for the sheer joy of it, and long may it continue.

There's a dedicated section for muppets isn't there ? ![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Like A.J. I'm far beyond the testosterone stage, but a month ago I had a wee boy in a Focus RS chase me down some empty A/B roads. He won't be bragging that an old bloke in a bugeye showed him his exhaust pipe receeding into the distance.
But as I need my licence for work, I had to watch myself and limit the "fun" to just 1st to 4th gears...
dunx
P.S. CHILL ! Oh A.J. I'm missing mine already after one week

bhp numbers are not really the issue here. a very aggressive driver will win every time against a sensible driver. he,s more likely to crash and burn too.
it,s not the size of the dog in the fight, it,s the size of the fight in the dog lol
to the op, driving lessons on track are great fun so enjoy
don,t chase bhp just to beat other cars on the road.

Is it laggy? When does it boost?
12mpg - that's £3 squillion per year on Vpower unless you do less than 5k miles a year!

Getting into 'races' with other road users (unless on the way to the nurburgring
) will only end one way eventually. Unfortunatley, if you own a 'fast' car particularly an EVO or Scoob, you will get people wanting to 'race'. The point is that on the road you wont see any massive difference in performance between cars that are say 100bhp apart, because the roads generally dont allow it. A track is different as the full potential can be explored (and is most of the time!). Do yourself a favour and let them go knowing if you wanted to you could blow them into the weeds - even if you cant really. ![Cool](images/smilies/cool.gif)
And for what its worth, a JDM bug with 280 BHP in my book is still a fast car if its driven well.

Secondly, I can see you're going to be trouble. We haven't even picked the engine up from you yet!

Quoted 485 but mine made 504bhp stock.

....and now makes what it did stock, 504bhp, at 4400rpm as opposed to 6600rpm then just continues climbing to the redline ![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Am sure for a few it is banter but the majority it's there own little stamp on the world. This is why alot of smaller forums/clubs are growing rapidly cos most are fed up with it. There's very little appeal left when u can't post anything without it been shot to **** 100s of times and not better half way to the answers u need
I'm pretty sure the police will monitor forums like Scoobynet, shooting someone down for doing something stupid may knock some sense into then and save the police time on an RTA

Agree with the OP in the sense that none of us are true angels behind the wheel.
I just think it was worded a bit wrong hence the banter from everyone........which is good fun and has made this thread the funniest I've seen in a while.
All I have to say is nervous down-shifting at 100........PUSSSSAAAAAYYYYYYY LOL.
Keep up the tuition on track mate as it will make you a better driver overall and will help you appreciate what other cars are capable of as some will surprise novice drivers.........and back to your original question the audis are well put together and from a small map tweak can easily get up to STI power, don't be disheartened compared to most on the road your car will still hold its own.......but as mentioned leave it to the track.......much more enjoyable and to put yourself against decent drivers is where its at.

I'm all for the Lotus concept of simple light weight construction giving great power to weight ratio and handling.......but it's wrong to think bigger cars can't handle well (RS4, M5, R35 etc).

I've been in Andy's car when picking up my luftpanzarwagen from Surrey. There was a spirited drive involved with me as a passenger and the car feels anything but clumbersome and heavy I can assure you that good sir

The one that "followed" me, struggled with it's extra girth on tight twisty B roads with oncoming traffic...
dunx
P.S. How involving is the drive ? Do the electronics separate the "feel" from the driver ?
