You totally missed what I was referring to.
Not who was making the dig, but what you said about "them" with regards to "them" making justification of a "tiny" bit more real world performance. Ergo, you are only doing the same as some STI owners have done..... having a dig!
Hence why I said that was just as bad as what you are remarking that some STI owners do. ![Lol1](images/smilies/lol1.gif)

In fact, it is you that has missed the point. I am not tarring all STI owners with the same brush. Forgive me if that is how it sounded. What I am saying (being an ex STI owner) is that in reality, there is only a small real world difference in performance between the WRX and STI, old or new. 'SOME' STI owners seem to think their car is a Ferrari and other 'lower' people with puny wrx's have no idea what they are missing. They seem to be the one with the issues, not the WRX owners. That is all I am saying.

I have just re-read a couple of my earlier posts and I would just like to clarify what I meant as I feel I was misunderstood.
The OP told us that he had been launching his WRX and that he was having problems now finding gears. My first post merely stated that if he had bought an STI this probably would not be an issue.
We all know the WRX 5 speed is a weak point when put under strain (ie- launches, high rpm gear changes etc) and that the STI 6 speed is much much stronger and (as we've all seen before) can take alot of abuse.
I then get blasted by a couple of people so I make the comment that the only people who buy WRX's can't afford an STI. I apologize for that comment as it's not true. I had a hot head moment like we all do.
The OP is obviously new to this seen and more than likely didn't realize the differences between the two cars and the weak points the WRX has.
The WRX is a good car and does it's job well, but for most people it just isn't quite enough.
I hope you get things sorted chap, a rebuild is expensive so look into a second hand box if a good service doesn't do the job. Swapping it for a 6 speed is also pretty expensive, you'd be looking at 2K ish so if you don't have big power plans I wouldn't bother.

My 250bhp WRX leaves STI's for dead, and even when it was only 225bhp with an extra passenger.
I genuinely believe it was the faster car so Subaru added a 3rd cat and made sure the STI PPP was far more clinical than the WRX PPP.
![Razz](images/smilies/razz.gif)
STI is the the better car though and more stylish. I just get peeved off by idiots saying "get an STI" when someone asks how much a Do-luck panel filter is for their WRX etc etc.
For real world conditions both are great and most get that modded both OE WRX/STI parts become redundant anyway.

Don't bring me into the better car debate, my point is that I believe up to 60-70mph a WRX will live with an STI. Forget adding corners into the mix as an STI will cream the WRX.

RS_Matt is just on the wind-up. I always get that feeling when I read these funny posts of his.
And if he isn't and he really feels like that and believes himself then.... who am I to get in his way. Enjoy yourself RS_Matt, have a good one

christ i went to work for one day and look at the state of this thread haha ![Thumb](images/smilies/thumb.gif)
Not that i have to justify myself but i am fully aware of the differance between the STI and WRX....i ended up with a WRX as it was given as present i didt pay a penny so off your soap box lol
Thanks to people who did help seems to point to the same thing. The car came from a main dealer not subaru 3 months ago and came with 12 warrenty, worth a go at taking it back or it it classed as one the waer and tear parts?
Thanks

Hey the OP is back ! ![Luxhello](images/smilies/luxhello.gif)
![Luxhello](images/smilies/luxhello.gif)
Sorry about all the bollocks...
I'd suggest you might have a chance at a warranty claim, but the small print may say otherwise.
A change of oil may be worth a try, and in an unrelated point, I had a quickshift mechanism fitted my car ( STI
) and it made the feel of the gear change much nicer, IMHO.

It would be worth taking it back and seeing what they have to say about a warranty repair

+1 you lucky person!
I would try take it back as well - but perhaps not change oil or anything like that prior to incase they say it was whatever you did to it that caused the prob... if that makes sense..

As to cover, you would hope so. The best warranties cover mechanical defects to all parts other than those specifically excluded (which are usually disposable parts such as brakes pads, exhausts etc). Cheaper ones provide a list of parts which are covered, and any that aren't listed are excluded.
So, probably! They might try to argue misuse, so you wouldn't want to put that idea into their heads.

I can just imagine a dealer arguing that if it works fine any time other than when it's being launched, then its not defective. Think in the first place you need a specialist to establish if indeed its faulty, rather than relying on internet diagnosis.

i get problems going into 3rd at high revs,,,its a tiny bit snaggy when normaly driving but nothing bad,,,,i changed my oil to millers and it seems to have made it worse,,,,,so ill be changing to castrol syntrax asap as it worked wonders in my last box
as for the sti vs wrx,,,i may aswell have my 2p worth aswell
when i went down to buy my blob wrx there was a bug sti beside it (i like both),,,,,,and the only reason i didnt buy the sti was down to the price as i could only afford the wrx at the time,,,,looking at it now with all the modding and money iv spent on the wrx (around 60k) it would of saved me a fortune in the long run if id have got the sti in the first place,,,,but i just wasnt in a position then to buy the sti ,,,,,buty iv always been very happy with my wrx and leave most sti's like there standing still now

I tell you what, coming back from the SCOOBY Shootout the other week an Honda NSX came flying past me on the A1 and I've never heard anything sound so sweet, I'd love a go in one.

Yeah the Impreza is way weaker than the RB25 box. Some peeps are running ~700 hp through the stock RB25 box on drag cars and it's fine (won't last forever though of course).
