short post as i am putting the kids to bed...some good posts on here...but some utterly sh1te advice...yeah, thats you TDW!

as a mental health professional i agree with some others on here...you cannot keep taking, stopping etc and medication is clearly not the solution in exclusivity, so many other things in your life will surely need to be looked at and addressed. as mentioned above, abilify is mainly used as anti-psychotic or to boost the effectiveness of other antidepressants...it is unusual for it to be px on its own.

EIT's usually work with those experiencing first episode of psychosis...perhaps involving a community team for an assessment might be worthwhile. PM me if you need advice.

Learn from this and remember next time you dont wanna take the Abilify.
Speak to your gp or consultant if u arent happy with it but messing about will only make it worse.
Count youself lucky that someone is listening to you and prescribing you something that could help.

Ive had allsorts of therapy and it can really help, you can learn to make changes and change negative thinking patterns that can benefit youu.

Have patience and take things one day at a time.

absolutely agree on this! therapy can be very useful as can medication...more than anything, talk. talk to people, dont be afraid to get support and take control.

Lorazepam is a short term medication for anxiety. It acts quickly to calm people down.

If you're meant to have been taking medication but ran out then you're really messing yourself about and we are wasting our time giving advice when u wont help yourself.

At least you notice when you are feeling negative, if u recognise that then its the first step in stopping the negative thoughts and mood spiralling downwards.
Thoughts are just thoughts, doesnt mean they are true. Hope you wake up tomorrow feeling brighter. Things arent so bad after a good sleep.

Years ago when I had anxiety problems a doctor told me that when a negative thought appeared, I should slam it down and do something else to take my mind off it. He said that every time I did that, I would become a little bit stronger.

He was absolutely right, eventually the troubles evaporated and I never had a problem with it again.

It was difficult to accept what he said at first, but he put his finger right onto a cure.

That was why I suggested earlier to try to find something to occupy yourself so deeply that you have not got time to dwell on anything else which is problematical. That would help I reckon.

as mentioned later...Lorazepam is a short term benzodiazepine sedative/anxiolytic that is highly addictive which is why it is usually px for a couple of weeks to help someone get through...again, its not a solution in itself.

keep busy, set yourself little goals each day...for some that could mean literally getting out of bed. get into some good routines...and seek out help.

hope things improve.

Nope, it's not right - you are on to something here.

You thinking that "it would only ruin the holiday" is only a thought, it's not a fact and its almost certainly not what the reality would be - so go and enjoy the boat/jetski or whatever - savour the good bits when you can and next time you're feeling low, banish the wrong thought by mentally "getting back on that jetski" or whatever.

There's no magic switch or whatever, but the little victories WILL begin to add up.

Lots of good advice from various people on here (and some crap advice) but also evidence that people do care. Use that.

Good weekend

Another way to fight negative thoughts is think what evidence do u have to suggest that is true.
Or, act opposite. Just ignore the thought and act against it.
I use this alot.

So "I will only ruin the holiday for them". What evidence do you have for this? for each negative reason you think of there will be a positive to counter-act it. Is it really true. Would they honestly think you're ruining their holiday. Deep down you know this is not true.
Ignore that thought and just go!!
