You really, really need to put some thought into what constitutes a racist statement. If I had said that all muslims are extremists then you would have a valid point. The fact is that muslim extremists exist, and they have been known the behead people on video. My speculation that this may have been the motive in this case says nothing about muslims in general.

It appears from the sketch that the alleged perpetrators are either very well tanned or not Caucasian!

Looks like the artist pushed the boat out for this one and took along a blue pencil as well as the trusted HB.
It would be interesting to find out their motives, it's not like there aren't any multi millionaires in Manchester is it.

You seem to be the only person here using the term "muslim" and "muslim extremist" interchangeably. I'm entirely comfortable that "muslim extremists" are a very small group of people compared to muslims in general and in no way act on behalf of, or enjoy the support of, the general muslim population.
I suppose the easiest way to resolve this is for us both to understand why the other holds a particular perspective. I have accused you of being BNP, if not racist, because as I see it, you have taken a couple of facts, multiplied them by a hundred rumours and come up with muslim extremist as an answer. I am sure all morally minded people think that showing up with a sword and a body bag is just wrong, so we are converging towards the point that only an extremist would carry out those actions. So now we know it is an extremist. Why does it have to be muslim?
All I am asking is, what evidence do you have to make you assume it wasn't a Paddy????
(p.s. - I can post that, cos I am one.... you can't cos you aren't)

I understand you don't like me speculating on almost no evidence and I don't have a problem with you criticising me for that. What I don't understand is how the fact that my initial speculation that muslim extremists may have been involved (which I'm happy to admit is probably wrong) means I am a racist. Why is it understood that talking about irish terrorists is not a criticism of the irish people in general but any talk about muslim extremists seems to be interpreted as a sleight on muslims as a whole?
(FWIW the reason I speculated muslim extremists rather than irish terrorists is that swords were not general IRA MO whereas for a while in Iraq beheading foreign journalists and aid workers was all the rage.)

erm - I said your post was a bit BNP, if not racist. I've been through the rough end of the thought process that goes "Some terrorists are Irish, therefore all Irish are terrorists." Again based on no evidence. So it annoys me a bit when I see people drawing similar conclusions..... "Their skin wasn't as white as you would see round there, so they must be muslim extremists" Dunno if you ever arrived at a hotel in London which had a sign saying "No Blacks or Irish." Sounds like your hotel might have one saying "If your skin is any more tanned than mine, you may be a muslim extremist"
