Umming and areing about 500bhp

littleted the 23 mustve been for an almost full car, inc drivetrian, susp, brakes, 6 speed/ never mine emgine turbo ecu ect ect.

but at 450bhp these are things you need, to consider to make the car, drivable/reliable. rather than just a 450bhp block lol.

either that or its a total con lol - 10k is reasonable depemding on whats including

yeah i thought con , no that was just engine

basics were a fully forged 2.5, cosworth pistons, crank etc and all the other gubbins you need to get to 450

Well i'm currently pricing up the parts and fortunatly i have most of what i need already so i'm only looking at engine brakes and turbo as well as a few other bits and bobs but by the time im done i will have spent circa 25k.
And quite possibly a little more to get 500bhp with the right set up.

so it's not cheap.

My classics been well over 500 for the last 3 years and in my personal opinion has too much power 50% of the time, the right amount of power 45% of the time and not enought power the other 5%. Before talking built specs I recommend taking a spin in one and see if the target is too high, low or just right as there is not point going down the wrong road.

The costs are not to be ignored. My clutch cost more than my first car and I view it as a serviceable/replacable item if used as intended.

Personally I don't fancy an open deck block at those sort of power levels but that's not to say I can't be done. I just think it give more scope for issues.

Also, as others have stated you are so far off the designed power level you can come across issues that require custom work. This can lead to some trial and error, additional cost and significant delays. There may come a point when you wish you'd never started, I know I did, but when/if you get there it's totally worth it.

Having seen you chase G-mac on his bike from the lights ( briefly until i lost sight of you both ) i would say it was well worth it

Was that the night it drifted round the roundabout at Hillington and up the onramp or the time on the way back from knockhill?

If it was Hillington I may have to correct you also - he had to chase me .

To be honest 500 is just a number that i'm using to gather the required spec, i don't really care if i make it to that number or not.

I will gather the parts together and build the engine so that it can take it and see what i get.

I'm sure it will be enough maybe a little too much but i shall cross that bridge when i get there.

At the moment it seems i don't have a cdb as the guy has not got back to me so i'll get back on the case soon.
