Seeing as the vast majority of the UK Pop don't carry / have guns I guess it's unlikeley that some drunken **** entering my house will get shot [how the f*ck did they get in btw?]. What's more likely is that when a proper burglar enters, I can pick up a knife or a baseball bat to defend myself safe in the knowledge that there's less chance of me getting sent down for it ...

Everyone jumps on this but you don't know what you'll do until you're in that situation.
9 out of 10 people will still cower in their bedroom and just call the police. Nothing wrong with that, it's all down to your personal 'fight or flight' response.
I think it'll make no difference although it's a welcomed move. When someone broke into my house and attacked me the last thing I was thinking was whether I'd get into trouble or not. When the thought 'its him or me' starts going through your head you do whatever you need to regardless of the consequences.
