Well somebody has to do the crap jobs. Not everyone can be once of Ayn Rands 'creators'....or call them what you will: economic elites.

I do agree with your point about dependents etc.

Walking around town you see a fair few FOTB types who are not young. One does wonder about the virtue of allowing 3rd world people to immigrate here who may have only a few years left working before they retire. That is a big social security bill potentially only a few years away

The system is a joke......

Not exactly on topic but... my Dad recently found out he has cancer, currently going through chemo etc then got to have a big operation which will take a year to recover from, after which he will not be able to do manual work again for some time, or even at all (which he has done most of his life).

He is self employed so starting to worry where the money's going to come in from during this time (mum retired). He had a meeting with a lady from Macmillan Cancer to see if he can get any help financially.......... long and short of it is he could get about £65 per week!

Because he owns his own house, rather than renting, he can basically get naff all. If he was in a rented place then he would get most things paid for. On the same day he opens the news paper to read how some ****'n money scrounging immigrant is claiming thousands a year while sitting on his ****

Speak to the DWP, re Employment Support Allowance and Disability Living Allowance. If your dad has been paying his 'stamp' (NI) then he should be entitled, probably to the contributions based amount.

Also he may well be due for help with council tax (relief) and if his mortgage - if he has one and it is an interest only mortgage then he could be entitled to help with that to.
