I dont see myself as being qualified enough to offer advice on this one, however your running a Cold Air intake too by the looks of it, so if this car HASNT been remapped and you have taken it to the redline then Im guessing its on borrowed time. I would expect a UK2000 running standard, to then have a 3.5" exhaust (no doubt decat) and a CAI to be remapped by now or it will be on engine no2, then 3..... Also it appears the car is on Coilovers, so the owners before you must have had a little cash to throw at it, you got the receipte for this too?

Done some miles that car then, if its been to Motoscope up here in the north (Northallerton). Take their readings with a pinch of salt though actual bhp will probably be around the 300 mark.

Looking at the pictures, there is nothing obvious that is different, apart from a decat down pipe that has been heat wrapped. Cant see what colour the injectors are in your picture (they should be yellow 440cc as standard in your car), induction kit fitted... loads of different comments on here about induction kits with or without remaps (had an induction kit on mine without a remap and mine is still find 4 years down the line) - saying that ive had mine re-mapped now.

Got the standard top mount on there....

Next thing i would check is your ECU, see if its been changed to something different (this is under the passenger foot well carpet)

turbo unit looks like a standard tdo4 to me, looking at your graphs tho your only putting out 250 bhp apx at the wheels 300 at he crank sounds bout right. if it was 300bhp at the wheels id say the rollers were well out with that turbo on but its about average with a decat and a map

If its had an ESL fitted, take the ecu out and pop it open (just a few possy head screws) and you'll see an additional board in the expansion slot, something like this:

Jamz you right about the CAI conspiracy, however the fact is the this car has had a full 3.5" decat and a CAI fitted, so if this car hasnt been remapped then it will overboost, run lean and the MAF/IAT readings will be all over the place, and if (as the OP suggests) thw car has been rev'd to the redline then it wont last very much longer unmapped. I dont mean to sound snobby but I have only been in Subaru's for around 6+ years, and I find that some people spend thousands on mods but do it all wrong which sometimes ends in tears just becuase they were naive, poorly directed, or didnt know what they were doing properly

its def not running a TD04 for that result.

sounds like its had turbo and a map to go with the headers, exhaust and induciton kit.

also doubt its running an esl board, standrd ecu is mapable

if i was to want to drop the boost to what i thnik would be a safer option say 1 bar do you think i could do it by just extending the rod off the actuator only ???? i know iam going back to abit old school but you used to be able to get the r5gtt`s and rst`s to get a little more boost by doing this so i was thinking i could do the oppsite and reduce the boost a bit if it has been mapped correctly if i reduce the boost all it may do is run a little rich which isnt a bad thing right ?????

A 3.5 inch bore exhaust is a ridiculous bore for a car of this tune, although the reduced torque this will be making due to the exhaust is probably saving your engine atm if it's not been mapped

Anything under 350bhp stick with 2.5" bore and you have a much punchier car

Tidgy, It might not be a TD04 but 365 BHP (post 45) It's not going to be much bigger...

OP, your best bet is to get a EcuTek remap from someone like JGM. That way it'll be totally safe, and, assuming the tubby is a TD04L, you'll have a reliable 260-280 to enjoy (depending on RON rating of the fuel you'll get it mapped on).

JGM might be able to tell you if it has already been remapped (and the initial licence paid). In which case just get the AFRs/det checked for peace of mind, and if all okay, you won't need a remap (thus saving either £650 or £360 on another remap - depending on whether it's already mapped or not)...

To OP see the difference a few pictures and graphs with information makes to the quality of the responses you get. I am glad you have decided to stay

Why not speak to the people who mapped the car??
I`d imagine one of them having printed off a map, so i you contact them using the details on the print out they MAY be able to help.

But Cat Herding FTW!!

Or even 'better, just run a temp. length of vac hose directly between the compressor nipple and w/g act. nipple -- hey presto, only around 0.5bar.

Or just don't flex your right foot!
